No anti-religious anything? Really?

The rest is reasonable, and you're a pretty reasonable guy, Badger, but seriously?

Why?

i get it

religion and politics are the two things that cause the most dissent and discussion escalate out of control

i dont agree with it though

john stuart mill wrote of censorship that it does nothing but legitimise ideas which if allowed to be heard would eventually be shown up as nonsense (obviously paraphrased).

basically you ban people talkin about stuff and no one finds out they're talking a loada crap.

an ip means nothing today

the reason i keep coming here it's because i can study humans in their element: running in imaginary wheelcages they built for themselves.

in the real world you can't actually enforce the rules, therefore the whole moderation thing is a joke, and the rules are just beyond. i mean to talk about "a platform for imposing your views" when you ban one bass hertz and get 5 back is just tooooo funny!!

then badger comes spicing things up with a warning or some arrogant comment, as if he could change anything about my life and has a real power. priceless....

just a few comments for the few who understand and find humor in life's little absurdities
but the model can be applied at larger scales too

Well yeah, I get it as well, but I think it's just a step too far

and moreover, do you think its fun for any of the moderating team to have to decide what to do when these discussions turn into battles....which EVERY single one has become, bar none on this forum!? none of the moderators enjoy it, and all it does is raise blood pressure for everyone. yes religion or atheism should be discussed. yes they should be debated. but NOT on web forums, and definitely NOT on a music site.

furthermore, this no religion rule has been around for 3 years straight, so its not something new at all, and not something created by badger. all the original mod's agreed to no religious discussion. thats 8 of the original moderating team from 2007, when the rule was introduced.

The rule became reality due to complaints first. Some of the first religious debates on this site went to physical treats and all sorts of bullshit. Needless to say we learned from it. Its got nothing to do with credibility. We're not a theology site. Thats it.

Since you really seem to have all the answers to forums, how about starting your own instead of the rhetoric? Talk is cheap.

i have a blog for production talk which is all i need
just because i actually know effective strategies for moderating a forum that allow free communication as well, which i've suggested and shot down some of yours doesn't mean you need to get all pissy

actually you're using rhetoric yourself, because them starting their own forum won't actually prove anything here, this is just an exit out the conversation not an argument

Don't you realize that the level of control has been getting tighter and tighter here? What is the point of posting when all thread end in lock, before they reach a conclusion? Mods supposedly have the all-mighty power to foresee the future of each thread, and it resolve. It obvious that someone got chew-out over the ass and tit threads. It is not hard that someone is trying to compensate for that mistake. Seems like every thread should start with INB4 lock.

Please.... Dont make me look up your posts here. You're always of the first to make a snarky comment about how the forum is run, and then when you don't get a response , you tell us were not listening. Lol. Just start your own forum. Why bother tearing down all of them (doa too). If you have a grand master plan for web forums, implement it. I'm serious!

Are you going to tell me I'm stupid next and trapped in my own mental cell? I'm waiting for that. Stay consistant!
