I'll have to post up some of my raw breaks and the resulting noise I call music.

but id also like to hear you playing on your own, would you go to a studio to record? or do you have professional equipment?

You don't need really nice mics. I do all my recordings with either some $25 CAD condensers http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=271324 or some cheap m-audio condensers http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=276502 as well as 1 sm-57 knockoff in the kick (cant find the exact one). The CAD ones are nice, and at $50 a pair they really perform well.

You just have to accept that you're not going to get "studio quality" recordings, but I prefer that. Just record @ 44.1/24 minimum.

When it comes to playing DnB-style drums, learning Jazz drumming techniques is definitely key and you've got it down trés nicely :e:
Debut album "Bass, Space, Pace & Peace" out now on Methodology Recordings!

oh and about mic's - i have an sm57 for the snare, a d112 for the kick, and apex 185's for overheads. In total all 4 mics cost around $500. It depends how pro u want ur kit to sound really....if you want it to sound huge and fat...get more high end mics (obviously). A lot has to do with mic placement and your interface as well. I run through a Presonus Firestudio Project. It's got 8 inputs, everything about it is pretty standard...sounds pretty decent. It runs at like 650 bucks.

kj sawka did an awesome drum-sample pack as a promotion for ableton and my goodness, it is such a good pack!!!!

This reminds me of that. Nothing beats raw drums imo.

DOA is probably your best bet, went down the tubes a bit recently but there's still loads of knowledge from old threads.
