On my birthday, went to see Mt Kimbie & Joy Orb. Was in the line for a good hour waiting to get in, get to the door and the bouncer decides only girls can come in. We're waiting there for 20 minutes and some kid comes along and starts boying off the bouncer because he got kicked out. The bouncer was nice and calm until the kid started calling him a pussy, when the bouncer decided to grab the kid (who had a massive smile on his face), as he was about to punch him I pulled out my phone to film it so I could use him as an example. The bouncer grabs my phone off me and whispers to us to go in. The look on his face was amazing.

I also got banned from Fabric & Matter for getting into a fight with a bouncer. Don't remember much about it, just remember punching him while he had me in a headlock. That night was horrible. On the bus back some fit girls were chatting to me but I was in no state to carry on a conversation. Ending up throwing up and wondering around Rotherhithe for an hour or two.

The best bouncers though, are the happy African ones. Most of the time when I've seen them they will stop and crack joke unless you take it to far.

Bouncers are quite like McDonalds. You pretty much know what your going to get.....but sometimes you will be suprised and get a good one.

I've worked in bars, so got to know a few of them quite well. Some are complete and utter stnuc full stop, (50% of all bouncers), some are stnuc to the public but nice to the people they know (30%), and some are nice 99% of the time (unless somebody is kicking off at them....which then warrents them being a tnuc) (20%).

As long as your not giving them grief/a reason to treat you like a tnuc the will pretty much leave you alone most of the time. Obvs theres a few that will go OTT for no reason but in my experience majority are ok if you're ok. I think mainstream pubs/clubs have more of the complete dickhead ones....but you still get a few at EDM nights.

I was in Cardiff on friday and the bouncer was so lovely. He struck up genuinely interesting conversation every time i went for a cigarette and even helped us carry our equipment out at the end of the night! Most of the Rock City/Rescue Rooms ones are alright but have only been since i got to know them. They're not dickheads if you dont theyre just not the nicest guys. The main guy at the bodega social is the best bouncer ever, proper nice guy and loves winding you up and scaring you and your mates. Many a time i've got him to threaten a friend that is new to the bar for an alleged assault etc. the look on their faces is priceless!

That'd be Clwb Ifor Bach (or the Welsh Club to most people).
Really nice little club that. Seen a few decent bands there. Krytpic Minds were there the other week but I couldn't make it there.

On the subject of the bouncers, my mate can't get into that club anymore as the bouncers now know him as "the guy that flicked a coins at the bar staff".

isiahfire wrote:Went to Hit and Run in Manchester tonight, and got there early, so thought we'd go to a nearby bar for a few drinks before heading to H+R. Was a group of us, about 8 lads, none of us meatheads or anything close, but fair enough the bouncers didn't want to let a group of that size in. Four of the group walked back to the other venue but even when it was just four of us the bouncer just flat out refused us entry, first on the grounds of not having student i.d, which we showed him, and then he just kept saying, "i don't need to have a reason"
We were polite throughout it all, and even wished him a good night when we got off, but Ive been pissed off literally the whole night. I have met very very few bouncers who aren't complete power-tripping-would be-policemen-if-only-they-had-more-than-the-one-required-braincell-pricks.
So.
Bouncers, stnuc or no?
Discuss.
Am a bouncer, how ever not a tnuc, but for every tnuc bouncer you meet they met 1000 stnuc like the counts you know.

This!

Allow the banter, but I go topless once a month for local club, just meet n greet girls, have a picture etc, n the bouncers are sound as fuck, but before, when I jumped the queue n explained I was workin, basically got laughed at and told yeah ok mate, jog on, once the promoter gave them the nod, they'll all smiley like we're only jokin son, come on in!

But I have to agree with the general majority, fuckin stnuc, the no id thing, a couple of years by I'd of been 19, my mate, same 19, I had my id with me, he didn't carry his cos he looked alot-lot older, like 23, bouncer just told him to fuck off.... proper tnuc... 80% of em are coked up all night LOOKIN to cause trouble...

so true, also if you're mates with someone that knows them. when i was at uni the bouncers at the bar used to be so aggy with me all the time and follow me into the toilets etc... although they still never caught me for anything. my mate then started seeing a girl that knew them and after that they were really sound with me.

best bouncers ever were at band on the wall, so chilled and funny not sure if same crew now it's reopened. another shout for manc bouncers at the phoenix are decent, i was waiting outside toilet for a mate and bouncer came up and said either go in the club or leave and i just said "i'm waiting for a mate" and expected to hear the standard, "well you can wait outside" but he just said alright and wandered off.
