Re: Do you use presets?
Cheers for all the replies guys, guess I had the wrong idea about presets, I see what you mean when you look at it from the other instrument perspective with drums and pianos

Re: Do you use presets?
Let me ask you this...
Do you record your own electronic/acoustic drum hits?
If it sounds good , use em!
I personally have never used a preset on a bass. but quite a lot of preset tweaking if im after a certain pad or lead sound, yes.

Re: Do you use presets?
Some people synthesize/record most of their sounds, including drums. Not because they think they are better than others, just because thats the way they work.Depone wrote:Do you record your own electronic/acoustic drum hits?
OP their is no right, or wronge, just what works for you imo.

Re: Do you use presets?
Yeah end of forum basically but I do know people that build their own VST, I know people that build their own analogue gear and what have you. Also know that quite a few Juno patches among other synths influenced piles of electronic music. Hell 808, 909, 303. Roland preset makers are the shit! haha. But yeah whatever makes ya happy. It's the ends that justifies the means.3za wrote:Some people synthesize/record most of their sounds, including drums. Re: Do you use presets?
You're using presets if you didn't make the sine/triangle wave yourself.

that's not a preset it's a waveform.marshy wrote:You're using presets if you didn't make the sine/triangle wave yourself.
Re: Do you use presets?
Did you create the waveform? Or is it a pre-made waveform?symmetricalsounds wrote:that's not a preset it's a waveform.marshy wrote:You're using presets if you didn't make the sine/triangle wave yourself.

Re: Do you use presets?
Usually I take a preset and modify to the way I want it to sound. I also use pad presets too here and there but a pad a basically a wave form with a long attack and filter modulations so they;re no that hard to make. I think its best to listen to a sound you like and try to replicate it on your own. It also helps to understand synthesis and how to use your synth as well. My .02 cents.
