I'm confused. You want ME to pay YOU, to tell ME, what YOU think MY music should be like? Is that actually what you're saying. Is that serious or is this some bad case of troll ting?

In this case. I'll sell my opinions for half what you're offering. I'll analyse your tracks, and give you professional(cause you're paying me) feedback, and say what YOU'RE doing wrong. Or I'll do you a special offer. You appraise my track and I'll appraise yours, and we'll call it quits? fair?

I love that when you asked for examples of music by customers, OP posted an example of her personal production.
Is that a misunderstanding, or is that just plain sketchy? DISCUSS

Odd bunch, psychologists are. I once used to see one who tried to teach me how to channel my inner psychic properties for 40 quid an hour...
not saying they're all money grabbers, but her home WAS pure luxury

Plus, how many of us have the money to splash out on a service that's essentially being given away for free online?
Really sounds like money is the motivation here....

How about you do a free 30 day trial and then see if it's useful for people.

I'm now first in line because I had the idea :D

Pay me Pedro and I'll help you in your approach in telling him about the success of his thread and how he can win at life.

I like the idea and am glad to hear that there are people finding the service useful.

Yes there is a wealth of information available for free, but paying for info and support cuts to the chase quickly. The benefit is that fast progress can be made, as more time can be spent producing rather than researching.

Some people here are also calling for personal credentials. Why?

Some people are good at teaching and have good knowledge even if they aren't 'famous/successful' themselves. The obvious example is quality sports coaches who don't actually play the sport themselves, but coach champions.

If Macc was offering the same service, no one would be as rude as the people have been here.

Fair play to Kim, offering a beneficial service at a price which is likely calculated fair based on the effort put into the venture.

Good luck with the business Kim. :)

If I had extra cash I would certainly pay for a life coach.

Two minds are greater than one. By working with a coach, twice the knowledge and problem solving can be applied to generate results.

When the goal is for self improvement and success, coaching is a proven tool that gives results. This is certainly true of my trampolining instructors who have helped me learn routines for beyond the technical capability of 'amatuer' trampolining enthusiasts.

Why pay for one person's opinion when I can get lots of people's opinions for free?

What if Kim doesn't like what I'm writing, then he/she might just say it's terrible, and I'm no better off than before.

This isn't a business. Send me pictures of you all, and I'll tell you if you dress ok or not, based entirely upon my own professional opinion, you'll have to pay of course. Do you see how ridiculous that sounds?

Send me a detailed story of your life, $50, and then I'll tell you, (based on my professional opinion) whether you're living it well or not.

In fact, send me any money and I'll give you my professional opinion about anything!

Because we don't want to spend money on something that won't get us anywhere. I would like some indication that this service is worth paying for. Which is why a trail run would be nice

this is ridiculous, i think most serious producers around here have got atleast 1 person that has alot more credits and alot more faith in that person's style that gives us FREE opinions.

Consultancy and coaching are both valuable and profitable.

Large companies hire consultants regularly to audit all kinds of things, and often find the results useful for directing improvements.

It's true my mum could give an opinion which is equally as valid as a professionals opinion. But professionals have no vested interests beyond earning a living, the good ones relying on repeat custom for ongoing success.

The concern seems to be that Kim is a cowboy. Fair enough. Don't take risks. Waste time reinventing the wheel. Live you're life as you choose and enjoy yourself.

Many individuals and organisations see the value of paid for advice, and reap the benefits of that.

-----------------------------

Kim, it seems you have a PR issue. Invest some time (or even money) in over coming that, and your business will gain more happy customers. (Stating the obvious really haha :))

@ Gnome and Phase Down - You both have valid points, but this isn't the whole picture.

Yet for quick results it is a valid and useful option to have professional help. It cuts down research time, provides insight on developing bespoke solutions and avoids the disillusionment that some members of DSF feel when their works in progress and finished tracks get no feedback.
