Subliminal Recordings proudly present : SUBDUB #1

Post by subliminal recordings » Wed Feb 28, 2007 8:23 pm

After some setbacks, we are finally proud to announce the first of our digital releases! SUBDUB #1.

Our first release has two very different stories to tell. Written roughly a year ago by Data and Cell, Heaven's Descent and Ronin contrast each other with two distinct styles that are assured to damage dancefloors worldwide.

Keen to ensure their production is up to an excellent standard, Data and Cell tested the tunes in clubs around London and the UK. Both have been extremely well recieved, one particular night @ the Knowledge Bar had the crowd screaming for the reload!

Here @ Subliminal, we are dedicated to releasing music of a high standard and hopefully this is apparent in our first release. We are huge fans of ambience, soundscapes, emotion and other film-like perceptions within music. We hope to create music which will feed the mind as well as make people's feet move on the dancefloor. We also hope to branch off into creating music and clips for films, games and other forms of entertainment.

We have currently signed an excellent deal with Digital Tunes and are currently persuing others with Knowledge, Juno and Addictech. When the time comes and indeed, if demand is high enough, we will press vinyl. However, we are distributing FLAC and WAV files, ensuring the music you recieve is of the highest quality possible.

We are always looking to expand our network and are currently seeking new artists who have the same perceptions of music as we do. We are also seeking graphic artists, writers and promotions people should anyone be interested. Please drop an email to Nick @ Subliminal via : nick_burne@msn.com.

I'll leave you now with a short review of SUBDUB #1, written by Claire, an excellent and unbiased writer that I have known for years. Should anyone require her services for promotional material, please get in contact at the email address above.

'Heaven’s Descent is a slow burner on a mellow tip, but the dark, squelchy bass and echoey synth lines add somewhat sinister overtones, which are emphasised by the ragga-style vocal sample. The simple but effective beats have a touch of that old Warp Records magic about them, gradually building and sinuously wrapping themselves around the other elements as the tune progresses to create a satisfying whole.'

'Ronin is different again, opening with gorgeous eastern-style strings and a very filmic atmosphere before crashing into some edgy, heavy breakbeats and a deeply reverberating bass sound, both of which mesh effectively with the synth melody. The subtle use of the sample (particularly the sound of clashing swords) adds to the eastern feel. This is the kind of tune you can feel as well as hear; the string-led breakdown is certainly a hairs-on-the-back-of-the-neck moment. Data and Cell are clearly artists with something different and intelligent to say in a world of often formulaic and unoriginal music.'

We'd also like to take this moment to thank everyone who has supported us and indeed a HUGE thank you to everyone who has bought our music thus far! We hope that our music will be memorable and stay within your collection for years to come.

Please visit http://www.digital-tunes.net to purchase SUBDUB #1. It's an absolute steal @ £1 a track! Download, burn, and smash the dance with your fresh dubplates!

Many thanks,

All @ Subliminal.

Thanks, we're aware of the house label, but their offical business name is 'Subliminal Records' and we are 'Subliminal Recordings UK', so even tho' it's a small difference, we are actually trading under different business names. With regards to SUBDUB, that's just a catalog name which shouldn't cause anyone any problems.

What do you think of the tracks?

Any feedback on the tunes would be great. We hope to make each release better than the last and we need to know what YOU think to make that happen.

Cheers,

I agree. We're discussing what to do but we'll have to stick with this for now, as the tunes are out and we can't change label name just like that. We will sort something out tho!

Cheers,
