doing this just stops all the audio signal coming through

Seems to me the problem is with the RCA to jack adapter. I suppose there is no way to test it with just the RCA's is there? Are you positive it's a stereo jack not a mono one?
I have the same issue but it's because my mini jack to large jack adapter is meant for some special headphones where the adapter screws on instead of just locking together. If I fiddle with it long enough I can get it to work untill I breath on it or look at it funny.

I seriously doubt it's a problem with the unit or software problem... but you never know.

Did you get this fixed DZA?

Did you say you're running thru an amp? My Saffire (not LE just the Saffire white one but believe it's the same) refuses to even play anything off a deck unless I run it thru an amp first....

Also had probs with using a phono to big jack adapter thingy(check out my technical terms) if it was a mono adapter not a stereo one...spesh when recording into SoundForge or summat, and stuff only comes out the left monitor sometimes....which is a pain in the arse.

- Made sure that you are definitely getting output from the mixer (tried plugging the jack into something other than the Saffire)?

i think this is the problem... on mine the signal from the mixer js sounds like its straight from the needle ie unamplified...

the dj mixer acts as a phono preamp and brings the signal to line level ;)

Ok I'm gonna say it.... I don't think I know what that means.

At a guess....it amplifies the sound thru the mixer already (I have just woken up)? What if he's got a shit mixer without a phono preamp? Do they exist?

Oh and DZA...know it sounds simple, but have you tried running it thru a different firewire port? Mine kept dropping out on the built in port on the PC, so I bought a proper Firewire card, and it prefers that a LOT.

Havent got it fixed yet and not running it through an amp

If you run it through line 1 or 2 the audio sounds fine but still in mono :(

Think it might be something to do with what ninjadog said, gonna get a new cable and see if the same thing happens

ay i just seen this... am thinking about getting one.

i think i know ya problem ay. you said you are running it thru 1 channel ay. all the channels are mono, not stereo.
so if you are using a stereo jack into 1 of these channels, ya getting phase from the 2 channels doubling up (sounds shit ay).
so ya gota get 2 rca- TS cables. when ya use TRS jacks in these.... its to balance the cable, not for stereo like!

so connect ya jacks into 1 & 2 & pan 1 hard left & 2 hard right!!!

I can't believe that between yall ya couldn't figure this one out.

heh don't use focusrite shit or have hands on with it
and a trs cable (stereo) will not phase on a mono channel which i doubt dza is doing (aka piping 2 outs into one plug)
most people with interfaces have more knowledge than using the traditional 1 stereo in on shitty soundcards
"supposed" knowledge  -w-

well phase cancellation is the only thing i could think of that has that effect like.
yep most people do.
shitty soundcard??? nah I don't think so, going by my research... they are pretty damn decent for their price & can compete aurally with many higher priced gear.

what I wana know though..... can I run 6 outs through my analog mixer, then send them back into the inputs via my 4 group busses.... or can I only input or output at once??

this is the only reason I want one actually... aw & their world famous mic preamps!!

no i was referring to shitty soundcards as they tend to have only one input port not a rip on focusrite ;)
