So I've been using and abusing this site for the past couple of weeks, so I feel I should give some back. What I have here is an Instrument rack that can be dropped into a single drum rack pad. I wanted to combine several hats together in a way that would give me substantial play over different parts of a clip. to help me get a more dynamic sounding hi hat, that sounds like its a single instrument, but changes character. I also wanted to add a dynamic stereo effect, cuz i noticed some people were having problems building one in Live.
Hi Hat Rack:

Basically, like I said, drop this sucker in to a single map pad on your drum rack. (if you drop it into its own channel, you won't get the intended effects.) I exported this thing with some of ableton's own hi hat samples in the hopes that you might be able to use it right out of the box, but im not sure if they'll open on your computer or whatever.
To make your own sound, or if the samples dont load right, the first thing you should do is look at the part that says 'hi hat rack' and lists hat 1 - hat 5. Start by clicking on Hat 1. Find the tightest or shortest hi hat sample you want to use and drag it into the sampler display to the right. Then click on hat 2 and load a slightly more intense hat. Do this so that Hat 5 is your most open or longest or craziest whatever. Check all of the volumes, either in the rack chain view, on the right side of each sampler. Make sure that you kinda raise the volume on quieter hats (ones with tiny pictures), and vice versa for louder hats (ones with gnarly pictures). Its not that important because of the amount of compression in the rack, but it helps smooth things out.
Now it should be good to go. The hat dynamic knob moves from one hat to another, with tons of overlap. You should alter this within each clip, in the envelope view to get the intended effect. First program where you want the hi hats to hit, treating it as a single sound In the clip view. Then adjust the Hat Dynamic knob around the kind of sound you want for this song. Then, back in the clip view, click on the little 'E' on the bottom left. This puts you in Envelopes view. On the first drop down menu select the first instrument/sound that says hi hat rack. On the second drop down menu select Dynamic Knob. Using the draw tool, you can now alter the sound of each hi hat hit.
Other effects I macroed... macro'd... Umm put on knobs:
Compression: I used both a multiband and a standard compression in this rack to help keep the sounds at similar volumes and timbre. Adjusting this knob adjusts the standard compression's threshold.
Midrange and Treble: Adjust certain knobs on the multiband compression.
Reverb amount and time: Duh. Included in the rack, as it helps blend the sounds better.
Stereo Effect: Here i included a couple of things I've heard asked about. Obviously, feel free to drag out this effect (to the right as 1Dry_Wet) for use elsewhere as a stereo effect, or to simply use the wet dry effect for effects or vst's that don't have one built in. Just copy 1Dry_Wet and paste it where you want the effect. Then replace my stereo effect (Simple Filter 1) with the effect you want to use. Otherwise the stereo effect knob goes from Mono to most effected.
Volume Out: for easy mixing.
