really really... Mt Eden is so amateur... I don't like anything about that tune apart from the sampled voice, the bassline sounds wrong, the snare is wrong... Just don't like it... Archangel is a classic, although it's not Burial's finest tune, it's undeniably a classic.

oh my god dude ur so far off.

to get this thread back on track, a couple more of my all time favourites would be:

coki -burning (a nice mix of bassweight and some very tidy vocals imo)

distance - traffic (hard to pin down why, but been a favourite since i first got into this. would struggle to find a track distance fails to deliver on)

Anything by Coki is a winner in my book :)

I wouldn't put money on that, someone's just posted a topic asking why everyone hates on Mt Eden lol... Apologies if he was joking though, Sarcasm doesn't travel to em well over the internet :P

I think Abs knows his dubstep (and garage, if I'm not mistaking). So I think it was sarcasm :)

But if you think Sweet Shop is the worst tune out there, you gotta upgrade your collection of bad tunes :D I mean, I saw a
'dubstep' remix of a lady gaga track floating by once. Didn't listen to it but it's probably worse.

No every tune does not expand "our scene". Sorry. Why is a thread with people listing tunes they like and tunes they don't like automatically considered hate? Why can't people just have their own opinions on things? I'd say this thread is being pretty civil and it's laughable to think everyone here is going to be all "yeah bro all tunes are worth something, I mean someone spent time on that." There's nothing wrong with saying you don't rate something, get some thicker skin if that bothers you.
Its considered hate when people start using the term "worst".

Lets be realistic. Hate shit thats worth hating.

sorry for not stickin with one, but Ive got a couple best tunes...to many great producers out there

BEST:
+Ganja White Knight- Strawberry Cough/Peace By Fear (those three guys create some of the most intricate shit... boggles all parts of my f-ing mind.)
+The Builder- Everlasting Gobstopper (i love Willy Wonka samples, especially the gobstopper machine)
+Eskmo- amphibian (the most insane switch up half way trough ive ever heard)/Harmony (because the tittle is exactly what he does...amazing harmony)
+Joker- Tron /untld rsn (both are prime examples of the mans hard work...and i love both so much)
+The Widdler- End transmission (the revolver samples are legit)/ Final stage (love the game sounds)

WORST:..ha, I do what i can to think about the better stuff and leave the hating for those who cant.

burial is pure talent... rollage

mt eden is awefully poor productionwise...

1) no dynamic range.. everything on his drums is flat... it doesnt thump... eqingwise... i can tell the guy cuts huge chunks of it just so he could crank the overall master volume...

2)... predictable arrangements... and meaningless automation.. and that is no gratuitous talk... (see 6)

3) uncreative choice of drum sounds..

4) no sub.. if its not for that lost, undriven reverbed flunked out sea of low frequencies...

5) eq : boxy sound all over the place...

6) but beneath and above ALL VERY BAD RYTHMIC SENSE...

there IS some implicit stuff that u could theorize about ryhtms that i wont do cause its fuckin 4 am on a week day in freezin quebec... there are STRONG grooves and tracks that are lacking grooves... mt eden has poor ryhtm... nothing seems to be ''in the pocket'' ... theres no groove in his drums nor his bassline automations or melodies .. at all.. and the wobble rates are kinda lost.. no groove... again... ( thus 2) )

now i feel that some artists may decide to sacrifice the intricacy in drum patterns and a good rythmic to benefit from a more huge / grand sound... he doesnt (see 1) )... his drums still sound flimsy as fuck..

those things u may not hear if ur not the type to pay attention to production value and soul... but once u get that... its just impossible to ignore... and its nothing about being snobbish or sumthiin...

sweet shop tho.. id have to admit that, even tho it displays somewhat really doubftul taste (i think he wanted it to sound ''abused'')... that track is fairly nicely produced... still danceable...

sweet shop is more the kind of track that makes u feel like ur gonna get tired soon...kinda like swagga. but they're still fun in a sense , and they display a certain level of skill..

mt eden : first time i heard it i felt weird.. didnt like it that much, but didnt hate it that much... just felt like it was an attempt... a few years later...i go back to it and im like man, that shit is ugly.. and it is...

There may not be a legitimate way to hate on things but there are legitimate analysis ... i just made one...

if u want to know what i like in burial .. id sum it up by : very very very assumed and well executed rythmic character.. celebration of the musical roots taht got this thing started : garage... ( i like how he inverses the relationship between the hats (sloppy, wide, confident) and the kcik snares (short, energetic, breathy), a very stripped down formula... only the essential... a strong creative value, very dense and precise yet diffuse emotional content, the capacity to make an album (as opposed to a track compilation (hello 2011))... a wee bit corny sometimes.. but didnt i mention garage

burial basically took the old school and pushed it forward in a creative manner.. next level status... while everyone thought that sound was well sweat and dead.. kinda like what dilla did with pete rock beats for hip hop..

gotta say sweet shop isnt the worst, the productions pretty decent theres loads more wannabe bro step tunes out there that are utter shite
Not about production value, it's due to that HORRIBLE high pitched synth. It's like dubstep in reverse. That's why it's the worst.

Don't post here if you get butthurt. Second of all, i asked everyone for their personal opinions, which they got right to express, good or bad.

Gotta agree that track is awful and to my ears sounds off key too.

Same mate, I really don't rate Mt Eden at all, Sierra Leone would have been good with a sub bass that actually sounded in key I suppose
abs is trolling you morons, no one likes mt eden.. they aren't technically real dubstep producers.. they just remix songs and chuck it on youtube and call it dubstep... they have no place in the scene.
