Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- NOVEMBER 2010
feedback off tracks on the old thread...
@joekool - dont really like the 2nd track (after the intro), the synth is a little annoying. got an interesting beat tho. really like the rhythm, its just the synth that bothers me. i love the 3rd track (i think), the bubbly, waterdrop synth thing is great. much better than wobble
@kikaruu - i quite like it.
it feels like a guilty pleasure, im not sure why, but its good. its very loud though, maybe ease up on the compression, but i guess electro is loud. also, not much variation, but thats more a taste thing i guess.
@therook - sick. its nice to hear some major chords in dubstep. i really dont know what to say, i really like it. 320? ha
@wwwmoo - nice. i love deeper stuff. watch the pop at the beginning. i havent heard the original, so dunno what you've done, but i like what i hear. was gonna suggest more variation, but thinking about dark stuff like kryptic minds, there isnt really much variation.
@soosh - baaaare interesting. weird, im split between jamming and concentrating on it. what is it? is it all samples or something? all i have to say is maybe vary it more somewhere along the line and the fade on the end is a bit quick. (yeah i made it to the end!)
@tastetester - i loved the intro, thought it sounded a bit loud and over compressed, but then came the drop and i realised why it was so compressed. ha. i dont really listen to wobbly stuff, but sounds well produced tbh. v professional, if a little bit wobbly. like someone else said earlier, it is getting a little old bla bla bla. but each to their own, and your shit sounds good.
if i missed you out, you didnt give feedback first.
edit: you joking cmacd? the post above you ONLY says one thing.

I didn't know about the old thread. I thought you get this big window of opportunity to be the 1st guy and not have to give any feedback, hah. I'm just deleting it for now.
Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- NOVEMBER 2010
@samkablaam: as a huge Minus The Bear and Kasabian fan I was admittedly apprehensive of this one. I gotta say man, you've pulled it off. I was expecting to he HIT in the face, but no. That sub is fucking DEEP. Loving the atmospheres here. ALl I'd say is give those drums less of a robotic feel in the main section, they kinda spoil the party a bit, maybe get some other polyrythms in there and add some verbs. Otherwise though, top notch!
I can't adhere to the 3 track feedback rule, cus there aren't 3 tracks here (and I'm not feed-backing people who haven't given any yet, but I'll crit some more when more tracks are on here.
ANYWAY, here's an ambient style dub thing from ages ago (haven't got a new tune as of yet, working on 4 or 5 ideas mind...)

Any comments are cool, and feel free to follow on Soundcloud

@samk - Spooky vibe and the vocals are nice. 1st drop was crazy - reminds me of dutch house. The 2nd drop was sick as well - very bassy and minimal. Overall a good song - drums sound a bit loud though. If ya wanted a 320 of my song its on SC
@CMACD - fucking deep man. Shuffly drums. I like it. Sick bass btw and synths are a nice touch!
@Debaser1 - Shit myself on the second drop. Orchestra was sickk. Very heavy tune. Great job!

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- NOVEMBER 2010
@ debasser1- like this one the most out of the ones you put up. nice strings, pads, space and overall vibe. i think the synth after the breakdown gets a little loud in the second section. good work boss.
@samkablaam- cool remix man, nice initial atmosphere and its the right amount of banging when it kicks in...dope work.Much better tune than the original!!
As for my tune some samples, chopped up with maschine, and a lot of stuff from reaktor...its rather busy i know, and yeah i need to change some bits/the end i just got bored as usual!
@CMACD- wheres your feedback for others..
anyways, its a cool track kept me going to the end. One of the better ones ive heard on the forum for a while. you need to sort the ending out, it just cuts out....lazy! do something to that bit.

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- NOVEMBER 2010
@sambaklam: great use of vocal samples, and the tune progresses really nicely. i like how minimal it is, and it's got a nice sub. not really my style, but i sure as hell appreciate what goes into it. i wish i could use vocal samples that well...
@soosh:
how did you do that?... you damn scots and your trip hoppy eclectic crap. haha, no i'm actually very impressed. very creative usage of samples, and as much as it seems it shouldn't blend, it actually does. very well. i especially liked the female vocals around 2 min. it does fizzle off a little at the end, but it's still overall a very interesting song, with plenty of changes to keep it interesting. good work!
@debaser: have you ever listened to something and just started cracking up cause it sounded so cool?... well yes. that orchestra drop made me laugh. in an awesome way. strings ftw. but on to one crit, i think that after the first drop the notes don't all match up key wise. i may be wrong, but it sounds like something is slightly off. still, strings ftw...
@rook: i melted into my seat. very chilled vibe, i loved the piano riff, and the drums shuffle nicely. it sounds well put together. my only complaint is that some more could happen, but if the mood you're going for is super mellowed, almost trance like, then you nailed it!
alright, this isn't dubstep at all... in fact, it's straight beat. but it's 135 and has a sub?... I don't know, i feel a bit stupid posting here but i failed to find any other forum that is as helpful and friendly, so here it is.

@sambaklam: cool original kinda sound you got goin on there, i like the minimal section, could possibly do with some more subtle layers in there though
@debaser: cool intro, digging the chilled vibes. orchestra part on the 2nd drop is sweet, although they could be turned down just a little?
@soosh21: trippy man, bloody trippy haha

@debaser- love the depth in the track mate. Reverbing the elements but not losing the edges to the sounds. Good stuff. Absolutely love the cymbal work after the drop mate. Sets it of a treat. Pads and synth work great together too.
@therook- love this again mate. I really love the chilled out dubstep and deep basses- did you make that piano riff or is it live then added?....
I know lots of people prefer the chillout dubstep....which makes me a little scared when I post my stuff.....seeing as though people seem to hate anyone talking about harder 'excision-y datsik-y' noises.....but hey. We make what we make and making noises really has helped my production if nothing else.
This is one of my new ones. I try to focus on noise creation at the moment and learn how things are made so I don't get trapped into a mode of 'wobbling a noise' and not knowing how people make different sounds.
See what you reckon.

@debaser - Yes man love the feel to this one, real sense of menace 2nd drops sick too
@ therook - feeling this one bro real nice vibes and gotta love the darth vaders samples

@soosh21 - Killer song bro I'm really digging it. It almost has a hip-hop vibe to it. The harp is dope too. Very refreshing!
@Pete-Miles - Sweet kicks bro I would definitely get some 4/4 action going. Bass is very well done. I think maybe a tiny synth melody would complement the bass nicely. Nice work!
and my piano is played by the daw. I can't play for crap haha.
@Max - Bar9 style shaolin! So killer! Bass and Sub are huge. Very well put together wouldn't mind a 320
@Johnst - Love the intro bro. Drop is good and the bass is nice and growly. good job bro!
@Chewie - Suspenseful intro! Killer bassline bro very well designed and sounds great!

@chewie: Your bass timbre fits your name. Like... ever hear the term chewy phaser? It just feels like it gets in your teeth or something. It's hard for me to decribe, but this is it. Those jazzy rides make for an interesting pair with the bass, though. I do like the shuffled vibe, though.

Thanks guys lmao @ chewie bass.
@magoula - heavy track the break needs hipassing a bit there's some freq clashing going on in there.
@Kikaruu - Split is a cool track sounds a bit sesame street at the beginning but the leads sick. Catharsis starts off good but not sure about that wobble sounds a bit too straight/Mt Eden for my tastes and it sounds a bit out of tune from the loop.

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- NOVEMBER 2010
@Pete Miles: Man this is next level. Those bass sounds are crunchy as fuck. I think that maybe you could benefit from dropping the drums before letting the bass come in proper, but do it earlier on in the track. The drop doesn't feel special enough. other than structurally though, I can;t fault this. Production is absolutely flawless. And the breakdown is immense. Second drop does it for me.
@Maxtone: Some lovely ideas in this. That bassline when it drops is real nice man. One think I'd mention is your drums don't cut through enough, especially the snare. Seems like there's too much atmosphere filling the mix? Hmm I don't know. That snare sounds a bit flat in the high mids. Give em a boost man! You're the opposite of Pete. Your track is immense structurally, but you just need to make is sound the best it can be man. Other than that, love it!
@Johnst: I like the fact it isn;t dubstep. I'm always trying to do bits of breakbeat or whatever that are around 140, just to be controversial
. I'm liking this I must say. That upright bass effect is mint. And when that more distorted bass joins the party is gels together proper nicely. Sweet drum work too.
@Soosh: Man! I don;t know how you do it. Where do you get these ideas from? Seriously innovative my friend. Production is top notch as always. My ONLY criticism is it needs more ideas to be introduced earlier on; having to wait 3 minutes made me finish my coffee before a new idea came along. And I wasn't happy (because of the lack of caffeine, not your tune, don't worry

@debaser1 - Like the haunting intro, verb on the drums is nice. Could maybe do with a little more snap in he snare. Gets big on the second drop! love those strings.
@soosh21 - Really nice, mellow vibe at the start then gets really trippy. Reminds me of some of the weird electronic stuff from The Cooper Temple Clause in places. Like all the vocals used aswell. Good unique work here.
@Johnst - Love the bass! the the organ sounds at around 0.40. Drums sound a little weak behind that synthed bass line.
@maxtone - Really like that intro synth. Really like the drums, and good solid sounding mix.
