free/netlabels are not worthless, they help promote an artists work, and yes there is soundcloud etc etc that artists can use, but having your tracks on a netlabel that the people running are obviously going to be promoting is just another way to get your stuff out there....so not worthless.

one of the best freelabels out there, and clearly not worthless as this is how i heard of some of the artists that they have on their free compilations
net labels aren't record labels. by the very same logic, simply putting tunes on myspace = you run a record label. bullshit.

artists can promote themselves, without needing to give their mp3s to someone else to "release" simply by putting them on a website. this is exactly what sites like bandcamp/soundcloud are for...

it's like a film maker spending years doing a really high end, ultra-personal production and then deciding to release it as a crappy .wmv file on the internet. treat your art with some respect, christ.
