To be honest, I still use it quite a bit for checking out bands. Facebook doesn't even have a music player does it? And Youtube quality is terrible.
My guess is that this'll just bump Last.fm to the top when you search a band, they'll redesign the site and it'll be a nerdier Myspace.

Facebook is the hyperactive kid at the party with the parents who won't shut about how 'talented' they are for their age.WhosZena? wrote:Facebook is like a bright sunny day

Myspace is the old uncle who use to be a pervert, battered heroin for a few years and is now cabbaged.

FB Does, but do a fantastic job of keeping it hidden. - need to step upwubstep wrote:To be honest, I still use it quite a bit for checking out bands. Facebook doesn't even have a music player does it? And Youtube quality is terrible.

i just find it weird how people post shit about themselves. like i know people gotta self promote and all that...but especially with facebook, every day or so people are there posting bizarre paragraphs about how they "went through the struggle" and "overcame hardships" which "are reflected in the music that i write, because i am the sum of all my experiences. when you hear my music you are hearing a snapshot of my life and what i have been through. my artistic abilities know no bounds. i am extremely diverse and cannot be pinned down to a specific style. i choose to float between genres, like a musical spirit" and all this bullshit.
fuck off!
i always figured that to an extent, social networking is more driven by the fans. multiple people can share their favourite musicians which they so happened to have discovered. and some of this has to do with being out there in the physical world making movements. then sabrina and errol can go on their facebook and be like "wow this dude is sick...check out his (insert music page)". i mean the music should be accessible. but all this twitter/facebook/myspace mentality where everybody is their own island and pulling a marilyn manson so they can suck their own dick and give themselves accolades when no one knows who they are...fucking weird shit yo.
but thats just me.

How did you read my facebook??qwaycee_ wrote: every day or so people are there posting bizarre paragraphs about how they "went through the struggle" and "overcame hardships" which "are reflected in the music that i write, because i am the sum of all my experiences. when you hear my music you are hearing a snapshot of my life and what i have been through. my artistic abilities know no bounds. i am extremely diverse and cannot be pinned down to a specific style. i choose to float between genres, like a musical spirit"
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.
Re: myspace is on the verge of bye bye
If they redsigned and shifted their focus on what it's used for they could be useful again. There's already good/better alternatives, but they can coexist. Maybe attempt turn it into a system similar to the "passport/open id" type sites. They obviously can't beat other sites, so maybe try to work in conjunction. Surely there would have to be involvement by competitors, but who knows maybe they will be interested.
Or maybe Myspace just needs a hollywood movie of its own.

in my opinion, the ones that truly fit into the category of your first paragraph, dont need to go around saying that...
so your second paragraph sums it up nicely

Once news corp dumps them, lets all jump back on myspace, and give them the double burn?

Re: myspace is on the verge of bye bye
used to rinse myspace a fair bit for gig listingss, but started to become unmaintained my a lot of artists....
facebook/ twitter are awesome for info straight from the artists themselves in your newsfeed...
myspace track previews are still useful with as someone pointed out, the facebook player still too minor..
to be honest I think myspace for music is still ok, its probably myspace as a general social network where they are really taking the hit...
for gig lisstings now, i use www.songkick.com, its deeceeent, it can auto sync wiv ur i-tunes to enable you to 'track' ur favourite dj's then, it will auto-populate a calender with all shows for tracked artists, pretty wicked..

this reminded me of Faceparty.... anyone remember that? Just had a look on it and they've closed registration unless you pay £25 lol, and if they dont like you they delete you (without getting your £25 back). Interesting stance.

anyone remember yahoo chat? the website, not the msn style chat client, that shit was old school you just log-on choose a room and start chattin' and you could use your mic and it was sorted by age but it quickly became pedo paradise.
