Big up the internationals!

Post by obiwan » Fri Mar 23, 2007 3:00 pm

We do invent good music, but we don't know how to party, or not take ourselves seriously by the looks of things, if it wasn't for the worldwise I think I would lose hope!

I'm South African born, grew up in Western Australia, and live in London.

A few folk back home (Australia is home) are getting into the dubstep thing.

everything shuts down at 2 in texas, but i grew up on the mexican border, where we started staying out at clubs where you could drink all you want for $5 till like 5am at the age of like 15.

by the time i left the border i was into raving so staying out all night was nothing new at all.

now i'm old and 2am is fuckin late wtf

LA's ok, but the public transport is shite, meaning you can't let yourself go and guarantee you're going to get home in one piece. I miss London.

yeah everything shuts down at 2, so you get started earlier. partying till 6 am is overkill imho. never had a problem gettin down what with designated drivers and cabs and shit.

Yeah, it's an aquired taste here. There are things I really love here, like the creative vibe and the massive concentration of artists and cool people. Having to drive everywhere isn't so cool.

Despite this, I couldn't imagine being anywhere else in America. Other than San Francisco, or perhaps New York.

Were you at Art Center or Cal Art?

Not as much as being under 21 and living in OC.

Ah, Otis. Yeah, it's kinda balls down there. Not really LA proper. But then again, it's hard to define what proper LA is as it's so bloody spread out.

Edit// On Wilshire? I thought it was down near Marina Del Rey.

Oh, downtown. I love the idea of downtown LA, but don't dig the actuality of it so much.

first weekend i was there, a crackhead broke into the dorm by tearing the bars off my window

he took my sega genesis, and whatever else he could find and stuffed it in my backpack and ran down the halls where he was discovered by the RA who chased him around the building until he got locked in the kitchen

when i got home from grocery shopping, the cops had him pinned down in a puddle of blood in the courtyard and there was a crowd of people like "yo there they are!" and i was like whaaa? and they were like "will you come identify these belongings if they're yours?"

it was nutty

he tried tearing a hole through the wall in the kitchen but it would have put him in the library, not outside

downtown LA is only good when theres a 15k watt system in the patio at caseys. then things get a little interesting when youre walking around.

nice mugshot parson.
