My experience with CDJ's hasn't been great, but the ones I used were a pile of shit. But I certainly don't understand the hostility towards them.

Serato on either will do, but if you can afford to cut Dubs then obviously you would naturally use them, because they are better quality. Doesn't mean people without the funds to buy dubs shouldn't use CDJ's, and at the end of the day, it's the Dj's decision, I don't give a fuck what they use, as long as they are a good DJ.

I think this whole Digital/Vinyl argument is totally down to preference. You shouldn't go for one option just because someone say's its better. Its whatever suits you. People might like the feel/sound/idea of vinyl, whereas some people may like the creativity options of digital methods. There shouldn't a right or wrong, do what you want to, as long as there's good music at the end of it, I don't care.

Charlie, you are a very wise man and I competely agree! What bugs me is that it's so difficult to always get the tunes that I want on vinyl. I shoudn't be forced to go digital, especially if I am willing to pay a little more. So I want to start a little project. Can any fellow vinyl junkies who have have problems finding certain tunes on vinyl, send the details to me on lilladyvinyl@gmail.com. My current want is Katy on a mission. Anyone else with me? Let's see what we can do.

I'm 100% vinyl (and the very occasional dub) but if i were to make the leap I'd be using CDJ's not Serato... I bought Serato a while ago and upon mature reflection figured there was no way on earth it would be a good idea for me... Having to cart a laptop around (I get into epic states of wankery) and having to fuck about with cables (I'm a half decent DJ until I need to do shit that isn't directly related to playing records) is A Very Bad Idea for the likes of me...

Its not that hard unless you're looking for old DMZ stuff which costs a fair bit, or stuff that was only digi/free. Discogs is good for stuff thats out of stock on the record sites, just make sure you check the sellers ratings and what not, I've had no troubles. If its a respectable label with respectable artists then most of the time they will have vinyl released. Where are you buying your records from?
