dam to much text on the quote then LOL.

the point I'm making is.. A lot of DJ's are steadily moving towards playing CD's. Not because its a cheaper option, but purely because clubs / bars don't get their decks serviced. If it was a case of, they don't make them (decks) anymore or the spare parts aren't available, then this would be a valid reason for venues / promoters having shitty equipment at nights. But with the amount f money a venue takes even in this economic climate, there really is no excuse for having fucked equipment as it costs a fraction of the money they make to ensure the equipment they have available is in working order.

When you look at the cost of CD-J's in comparison its bloody stupid to have them over turntables.

I guess if you wanted to get topical about the whole thing... im kinda thinking out loud here...

if venues and promoters supported the use of and maintained their turntables it would firstly, reduce the amount of idiots DJing with shit quality digital files, youtube rips etc. The knock on effect would be that only people who are prepared to buy music would DJ, meaning that on a basic level we would probably still have more record stores, which means that the industry many of us are apart of, on a bigger or smaller scale, would be more vibrant. the nights we go to would / should be of a better quality musically and socially as scensters would stick to going the local ritzy and not (i hate to sound ever so snobby) specialist music nights. meaning the world would be a happier place LOL.

Ok i lost the thread of what i was waffling, there maybe an oune of sense in there or it maybe i drank to much coffee and haven't eaten. but it is true that maybe, just maybe.... the way music consumption and use has changed has had a bigger impact on our lives that we realise.

oh and also, the lack of decks also fucks with serato users..... who i dont have issue with as at least they invested in the tools of their trade. CD-R's... pft. 10 a penny.

what a ramble LOL but i'll post it for the fuck of it.

Hi,

Today I verified again if my information was accurate and up-to-date. It is.

Despite what other sources might say, the MK6, MK5, MK4, MK3DS models are discontinued, and this is coming straight from Panasonic Japan.

Panasonic catalog links are on page 3 of this thread.

As far as I've heard, its only the MK6 which is being discontinued, and its only sold in Japan.

now as far as the panasonic rumors, all bullshit. and i wouldn't doubt for a second some greedy company ie: guitar center would start that rumor in the first place.

Maybe Technics 1210 is such a strong brand someone else would buy the rights and make them.

Well, Apple employees don't even know what new products are being unveiled until Steve Jobs premiers them on stage to the entire world.

True but this has never been Panasonic's vibe and I doubt it is now.

Ok, afraid to say its official,

All Analogue Technics Turntables have ceased production and are permanently discontinued.

A statement was sent to all Panasonic employees this morning. Cant post it on here but suffice to say, is a sad day here in the office.

However from talking to my collegues it is not impossible that production could be taken on by another company should PJP release the brand and products to another company.

So im staying cautiously optimistic.
