honestly i think hotfile is worth the money if you're not too worried about security...

maximum $9/month to be able to upload 2 gigs at a time and the nonpayers don't get butfucked with ads.

irc, private ftp server, split file archives (rar, zip), dropbox shared folder, a paid yousendit account
honestly the easiest option is to buy some webspace and use private folders with passwords on them
freewise dropbox is prolly the best option especially if you'll be going back and forth

dropbox.com
both parties get free accounts, install software, set folder to share with other party, place file in folder, done. same thing as having a lan folder just over the net. free account gives you a 2gb limit.
useful for impersonal collabs

wetransfer.com = fast, ads aren't annoying, no popups, isn't russian, isn't google indexable, and is secure ...

You guys are allowing "middle man" sites to get between your transfer. Nothing beats direct xfer. Just both people download and use FlashFXP. Trust me. There can be nothing faster because you are directly connected to each other. And you can use ssl/tsl & crypt, so its super secure. If your IP is dynamic (changes), goto no-ip.com and set up a forwarder. You can update your dynamic IP everytime it changes. But thats only if you plan on setting up a personal ftp server for people to login when ever they feel like it.

take it from a pro
