pitch bend automation in cubase 5?

Post by joekool » Wed Nov 10, 2010 6:55 am

just switched over from ableton and i'm loving every second of it..

just a quick question about pitchbends though. is there a way to do it? when i open the midi lane for it, the automation line is grey. i have read and write on and velocity/all other automation work fine and show up red so i'm not quite sure what's going on. any help?

some of the soft synths dont have pitch bend, so this might be a problem too.

I do the pitchbend on the piano roll, works fine. Its the bottom half, under the notes, just change it from velocity to pitch. Some synths need to have the pitch bend range set tho. What synth are you using?

I record pitch bends on top of a previous midi channel, or just create a new midi channel routed to the same instrument named "instrument pitch" or something.

What VirtualMark said, you can find pitchbend by double-clicking a MIDI clip and then clicking on the drop-down menu in the bottom left (where the velocity lane is) and changing it to 'Pitch Bend' :D or you find the pitch bend by clicking the '+' icon on a MIDI channel and then finding pitch bend in there :)

yeah its not what the OP wanted but does anyone know the way to pitch bend AUDIO in cubase 5 or nuendo? I used to mixdown parts to .wav and put it into soundforge but this takes forever. there should be a way to bend audio around easy in cubase/nuendo.. im sure there is and im just not knowing

Not responsive to your question - but put the audio in a vst sampler, and pitch bend that?

yep both read and write. it's just grey and won't do anything. all other types of automation work fine, it's just the pitchbend. i made a little workaround using the midi modifier and automating that but it sucks and is a serious hassle.

are you sure you don't need to assign / enable pitchbend within Massive first?

does it work on your pitchwheel? Can you automate it for other synths?

Didn't think there was a Massive global pitchbend. Thought you just had to assign a macro to the pitch of the oscs, then draw the automation for that macro, yacro?

I think it's in the Global section, but you have to enable it or assign a pitch amount or something to make it usable from the init patch. I can't check right now, but I'm pretty sure.
