Best Compilation Album This Year?

Post by yaga » Fri Nov 12, 2010 12:03 am

Hey folks,

Aside from mixes & pirate radio, i always *thought* compilation albums were a good place to discover new artists, or hear tracks by known folks you haven't heard before. What's the best compilation you've snatched up this year?

Very recently, i've gotten -

Soul Jazz Records Presents: Riddim Box (http://www.souljazzrecords.co.uk/releases/?id=20988)
Worth the Weight - Britsol Dubstep Classics (http://boomkat.com/cds/353317-various-p ... p-classics)
Scientist Launches Dubstep Into Outer Space - Dubstep Originals (http://www.piccadillyrecords.com/shop/p ... ?pid=72914)

...and i have to say Future Bass on Soul Jazz is still my top pick. lol.

Compilation Albums Hey?

1) Scientist Launches Dubstep Into Outer Space (hands-down winner, not one bad tune on there)
2) Deep Medi Releases Volume 1 and 2 (counting this as one)
3) Worth The Weight : Bristol Dubstep Classics
4) Fabric Presents : Elevator Music vol. 1
5) Souljazz Presents : Future Bass
6) J Da Flex & El-B Present : Nu Levels

that's all I got so for.

My favorite track this year is on that Nu Levels comp. That El-B/Burial track... is... a... fucking... roller.

Ah yes,

Re:Call to mind deserves mention too, but I have that stacked with the d&b stuff. Night Slugs Allstars isn't out yet but judging by the tracklist it's a worthy contender as well,

although they seem to have picked the tracks that I tought were ok and not fabulous :) .

The Deep Medi compilations weren't digital only, you can still buy them on CD as well.
