Wub if your on a budget i would stick with using vst plug ins for compressors and effects. The cheaper units really wont make any difference compared to stock plug ins and you've got to take into account the limitation of only having 1 comp for instance which you can use on 1 element at a time rather than a plug in which can be use multiple times without the ballache.
Would definitely recommend saving up and getting as good a quality soundcard as you can afford though with good convertors if you are going the outboard route.
Anyone using rack mounted hardware?

It's just an experiment tbh. If it works, great. If it doesn't, I sell it on.

Top tip - drill three extra holes on each side and you can just about fit an extra 2RU in3za wrote:That is just what i need right now, I was going to make my own, but this will cost me abit less, and save me cocking it up.macc wrote:Ikea Rast bedside table + rack strip and a few screws

Mine serve as PC monitor stands/bass traps now, but they have served me well as racks in the past!

I Want to use it for a Eurorack case, so an extra 2U ain't going to help me much, But thanks for the tip.macc wrote:Top tip - drill three extra holes on each side and you can just about fit an extra 2RU in3za wrote:That is just what i need right now, I was going to make my own, but this will cost me abit less, and save me cocking it up.macc wrote:Ikea Rast bedside table + rack strip and a few screws
