breakdown ending vs looping fade out
do you prefer a tune to do a breakdown at the end or an abrupt ending or a gradual fade out say on the chorus looping

No preference. Depends on the track.

Re: breakdown ending vs looping fade out
For me, I tend to feel like a fade-out is a cop out; like they cba to spend 30 seconds thinking of a decent ending point for the track and instead had to fade the song out... Just me dow

Nothing worse than a fadeout in metal music.

Re: breakdown ending vs looping fade out
it depends, a fadeout can be lazy but sometimes it can work well if you strip down the loop to one of its background elements and fadeout on that.

Re: breakdown ending vs looping fade out
i normally just like to drop elements out gradually until you have 2 or 3 things left and the just have it stop, or filter summat out, or doin some little thing to one of them

Both have their place, I think 9/10 times a tune will sound like it needs a proper ending, but 1/10 you'll need that fade out. Fade outs can be kinda epic if you do it right.

Re: breakdown ending vs looping fade out
Yeah, it depends heavily on the track, but I think a well made burn-out ending makes more of a lasting impression. Not true in all cases, obviously.
Re: breakdown ending vs looping fade out
I'm feeling the fade outs atm but maybe that's cos I'm experimenting with lots of things in my production right now.
