traktor, serato, final scratch???

so some-one was telling me about using traktor with an external midi like this:

just a heads up shortee and annalyze both are sponsered by final scratch as turntablists, but was told by shortee she honestly prefers serato for stability
also i got to witness a wall outlet not being on and a laptop battery dying mid set

think im gonna snag djdecks.be soft for home since its so cheap and my soundcard is already one of the recommended ones

If your just wanting to use mp3s to add to your collection then i guess it has to be serato, i used to own final scratch - it was novelty at first but i never used it out, i wouldn't recommend. Abelton is the future man - i can smell it

or you could be like tim exile and make your own reaktor ensemble (and then some) and controllers

final scratch was cack, and it wasnt cack because of the hardware.

Serato, no question. Torque adds some cool features, but is less stable, reliable, and the breakout box is made of cheap plastic. Additionally, Serato support is second-to-none. My Serato breakout box got fried by an electrical storm last year (2 years after I bought it) and Rane repaired it for free and went as far as to pay for shipping. CD players really lack the feel of vinyl, which is pivotal for me, and Traktor just kinda feels like a toy imo, especially if you aren't using midi controllers.

native instruments quitted its contract with stanton so the actual traktor (3.2) doenst work any longer with final scratch. stanton says there will be a new piece of software soon. at all imho traktor is one of the best dj tools out there.
NI developed a new piece of hardware which seems to be the same as finalscratch working with their traktor software. it came also bundeled with 2 pieces of vinyl and timecode cds and a reduced traktor version called traktor scratch. comparable to NI's traktor Final Scratch v2. So if you own Final Scratch you can only use Traktor 3.0.
an alternative for home mixing is the hercules dj console mk2. it supports the connect of an external mixer and two turntables. you only have to buy the final scratch timecode vinlys and can work the same way as with final scratch for just around 250$
at all it supports only 16 bit 44 khz soundquality so its not worth to use it on a club pa.

Serato on Mac if you want to re-create the feel of vinyl and are serious about playing live. It's used by Craze and Vadim - nuff said really.

Ableton if you want to take it to more creative levels.
