I <3 Reason. It's my go to. I don't agree with that statement though.

i love Reason! it's not a digital audio workstation.
Ahhh your so right :) It's got nothing to do with digital audio. I mean it's not like you can use digital synthesisers within reason, create drum loops, use samples, and play with a mixer... The only thing this is good for is makeing fun of and looking at all the cool color coded stuff!!!!! :h:

Reason is a DAW just as any other... FL, Logic, Ableton, Acid, Cubase, etc... It's also a very effective plug in (i'll give you that one :W: ). Those who bash it are most likely ones that fail with it :4:
For you, it might do everything you need it too, but I record local bands and have some MC's for friends, and NO, it is not a DAW in the truest sense of the word. Even the company markets it as a digital music studio or something like that... Using synths, creating loops, sampling, these are not what make a DAW a DAW. A recorded does, and rewire it with that record shit and Ill let it pass. But dont start this arguement again, this topic is beat to death, and all I am going to do is quote Proppellorhead on you. 'No audio or recording functions'. This means, Reason IS NOT A DAW JUST AS ANY OTHER.

You dsf kids crack me up.

Fact is, Reason is a DAW.

digital
1. (electronics) of a circuit or device that represents magnitudes in digits

audio
1. the audible part of a transmitted signal

workshop
\work"shop`\ (?), n. a shop where any manufacture or handiwork is carried on.

A digital audio workshop would be a place for you to digitaly deal with your audio in a nice handiworking environment :h:

I think your definition is based on opinion much like many of your other statements.

You need to understand that audio goes beyond synthesis and effecting for some people man, and youll understand why the company doesnt wanna get into this either and chose (and I looked it up this time) to call it a "Virtual Music Studio". ** Reason lacks three critical aspects of processing audio, when not rewired with record... Input, Recording, and Editing. Its a FUCKING IMMENSE synthesis, sequencer, mixer, ect. But the fact remains that even phrasing it the way you did, the audible part of transmitted signal... That would include processing mic.'s/lines, and manipulating audio post recording... And some people need that.

Tip : If even the company explains this, stop arguing it. Im not belittling you or your software, quit taking this as a conflict man. Reason is an amazing package if you dont need full flex recording and line processing... Its awesome software, and doesnt have to be a traditional DAW to be fully capable of making amazing music. Your getting in a huff over nothing. Like I said man, stop seeing everything as an conflict.
