I'm a dubstep elitist....

Post by snypadub » Wed Nov 17, 2010 9:59 pm

and proud.
I love the roots of the genre and I love the real sound of dubstep.

I am sick to death of the flood of shit that has taken over this forum and the genre, you guys are killing off a beautiful genre.
It has got to the point that im almost embarresed to admit I like dubstep because people instantly assume im talking about the crap that dubstep has recently been comming out with.

Drop that irritating yoy yoy bass thing, low it on the midrange and make emotional sublow music people.
If you don't want to and want to carry on puking up this abomination please don't call it dubstep.

Impress me. Use this thread to show me tunes and I will criticise the shit out of them (because I can).
Seriously lets get some drive back into the genre.
Bass music lover since day dot.

Well, i havnt had my opinion expressed on this forum yet. And all I have to say is you...and every other "elitist" are closed minded fucking idiots. I read what you guys write on this forum, and 99% of the time it boggles my mind, you sound so dumb and so ignorant its quite funny.

Is 50 Cent/Lil Wayne not considered rap because they don't follow the "roots" of Biggie/Tupac? NO...

Everything is evolving, EVERYTHING, just because you like the way music used to sound means what...it means that is your opinion, if nobody liked "brostep" gayest term to ever cross the human race by the way...then it wouldnt be around!

No one forces you to listen to anything you dont want to...no one makes you buy anything you dont want to...yet somehow..ONLY you guys seem to make it a problem, so if you dont like it, dont listen, whats so hard about that?

Just because you guys like the "roots", or what sounds like it....there is no need to let the whole world know...keep it to yourself. Go the the shows u want, listen to the music u want and SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STOP WHINING

Edit- Flame Me, Bash Me, DO whatever the hell you want, you are all a bunch of little babies crying because PEOPLE LIKE DIFFERENT MUSIC THAN YOU, its time to take your fucking diaper off and realize the world doesnt revolve around you and no one cares.

I don't have a problem with people liking different music to me. My girlfriend, whom I love, likes kill hannah, HIM and my passion ffs.
I don't even mind, contrary to what you may think, progression. I understand a genre can't remain with its roots for eternity because the genre would get stale and dry up.

My concern with this part of the forum and, in some respects, the scene as a whole is thatprogression has halted.
We had a steady curve of progression from roots to now and it just seems like, since dubstep has become the cool thing, people are leaping on the band wagon producing music to an almost scientific formula. I feel that with the flood of, "brostep" type tracks the originality that sepparates a good artistic piece of music from the rest has faded away slightly.
Of course my what I have said on here is somewhat hyperbole but regardless I do think it is an issue that is affecting the music I am so deeply fond of.

I resent being refered to as a dumbass. I may not be the most sophisticated person out there and I certainly don't claim to be clever. But dumbass is a little bit of a low blow.
The thread is titled ironicaly because of course i'm not an elitist. Have you ever heard of snypadub before? Probably not, I don't have the status to be an elitist really i'm just a music lover.

The thing is, the stuff i'm criticising here hasn't had any soul poured into it, it is generic, poorly produced (or at least arranged) and lacks any form of uniqueness.

I always love people having a go at haters because, in the very act of having a go at them they become the people they are criticising.

Peace and love brother, I have no beef with the people behind the generic crap I am criticising my beef is with the music they are producing.

Atleast you have some frame of mind that you undertsand what I'm saying, and i dont think i said dumbass? But if i did, it was just in the moment, not a low blow.

But comments like;
/Mala

/Coki - Thread

Are just ignorant really, people draw lines WAY to quickly and are considered "haters" "fake dubsteppers" "BROSTEPPERS", are just words used to describe in reality....the HATERS themselves, most of you guys just cannot handle the fact that the genre is not going the way you want it to.

As previously mentioned, if the genre is going in the direction I just described I have a huge problem with that. I market myself as a dubstep DJ, if new promoters and venues are gunna start booking dubstep djs expecting the shit I have described I'm not gunna get re booked for playing the more realistic sound of dubstep.

So yes it does affect me and yes I do want to avoid it going in that direction.
Again, just reaffirming what I have already said, don't mind progression the point of orgignal dubstep is that it is original and therefore a progression from anything previous.
Canny be arsed to argue my point any further right now far too sleepy and lacking coffee but open to inteligent debate so keep it up if you like, i'll reply in the morning :)

I said my piece on you as a poster in my post.

I'm just contributing to the conversation here.

Before I get into this I'll say that I understand how you feel 100% because I feel the same way about hardcore and screamo(the early 90s stuff not that shit on MTV if you just assumed I meant chug chug breakdowns and guys in tight pants do some research).

That said, Some of the shit you post on tracks is just fucking unnecessary, you said shit on my track and while I'm not offended because, again, I understand and respect your reasons for thinking this way but I don't go track down bands calling themselves hardcore and say "HEY GET THE FUCK OFF MY LAWN" because it doesn't get me anywhere, it looks like you're on a mission to win a genre back, but starting forum warz with people who are putting time and energy into production is silly and not winning your movement or genre any fans.

I got into dubstep Via James Blake, joker, Gemmy, and a bunch more of the deeper stuff , original and ingenious producers all of them. Up and till then I had been producing ambient music and I felt I could probably be producing stuff like those guys. What came out was brostep, and you know what, I don't like the fans, I don't like the stigma, I'd much rather be producing deep dub because it better fits my personality, but I'm not bitching and moaning, and for you to sit behind your decks and shout that it has no soul is bullshit, a lot of it IS soulless empty nonsense, I totally agree, and my tracks may not do it for you, that's fine, but, and I am sure as shit not the only one, I'm not going to produce something emotionless, and I'm not doing it now.

Aggro and formulaic=/=souless or emotionless.

I could say the same thing about deep dub you are about brostep too, as I'm a fan of both, it's not as if those artists are ALL original, it's come down to formula as well, you genre humping idiots aren't accepting it for obvious reasons but it is.

At the end of the day, you're gonna have to get the fuck over it and keep listening to YOUR music, or fight a loosing battle until you become a jaded piece of shit that NOBODY likes.

Just my two cents.

I retract every comment I have made in a negative light regarding brostep.
That track singlehandedly proves me wrong.
Or not.
It is a decent effort and the bass, however generic, does show effort and attention.
The track works but just doesn't fit quite with my taste but good effort man.

agreed, not seen much from him in forms of his own productions so he can say fuck all about anyone elses. might have a lil bit of respect for his opinion if he actually knew how to produce himself

I think the main thing here is that this thread just isn't very constructive is it? If it's really that much of a problem it may be worth chatting to the sites admin about having the Dubs section split into two. Threads like this are surely just adding to the problem of the good stuff being lost under a sea of bullshit, and now I just bumped it, well done me.
