Alan Letko is a man of many faces. As his solo production moniker, Claw, he’s released a slew of critically acclaimed releases on Shift Recordings, Play Me, and Suicide Dubs, among others, and has been headlining shows in cities across the US over the last 3 years. It’s as Claw he got his start in Houston, gaining notoriety on the DnB circuit locally before making the jump to a short lived career as an audio engineer, and finally stepping onto the national stage as a forthright dubstep producer.

Or as part of his current collaboration with Richie August, Hulk, he’s embraced the previously negatively connotated term ‘brostep’ and turned it into a positive to describe the big-room, heavy sound that the two are pushing with their label, Brotown Records. The duo’s been responsible for some of the biggest bootleg tunes of the last few years, including their smash remix of Jay-Z’s Empire State of Mind, as well as many original productions and remixes on labels like Potty Mouth and Tuff Love Dubs.

Or formerly, as part of the Trillbass collective, he’s been responsible for pushing dubstep in new directions, incorporating heavy use of hip hop samples and instrumental riffs to almost single-handedly popularize what many are now calling ‘thugstep.’ Claw’s official remix, under the Trillbass moniker, of Wu-Tang’s Keep Hustlin’ recently debuted at #7 on the iTunes hip hop chart.

Whether as a solo artist or in collaboration, Letko’s race to change the face of stateside dubstep cannot be denied. With a slew of productions in the hopper, a NY art gallery to run, and several record label ventures in the works, it seems the man known as Claw has no intention of slowing down.

SLIN

Slin's passion is music. He fell in love with drum & bass in December 2003. At first he was fond of dark sounds but in summer 2004 he heard the sounds of nuskool ragga jungle, and that was the style that motivated him to start spinning recs himself. Nuskool r-j got him more into the oldskool sounds as well, since they have a lot in common. He is part of a DJ's/producers crew called Siege (C:GE). Slin got interested in turntablism (manipulating sounds with turntables) in the summer of 2006. Dubstep caught his ear in 2006 and he started playing it himself in 2007. Siege Crew started up the Estonian dubstep community http://www.dubstep.ee in August 2007 to help develop the dubstep scene in Estonia and the community has been growing ever since. The crew started up the "DubShack" event series in September 2007 and brought Tes La Rok, Rusko, Kromestar, Chef and ConQuest to the Estonian massive. The collab event with SectorDub featured Loefah and Braiden as well. Slin has had a hand in organizing the SUBFARE events. The SUBFARE crew (Sam Serious, Espirit, Slin) have brought Distinction, Kutz, Silkie, Truth, Goth Trad and Razor Rekta to the Estonian bassheads so far.
