i've actually been going to the temple a lot lately, although, not everyone considers buddhism a religion since i don't worship a god, per se

imo religion, as we use the word, doesn't need a God god;
it's a set of beliefs & practices tying us back to .... (whatever we consider primal)
Because it takes on the psycho-social trappings of host communities,
I consider Buddhism to be a religion even tho,
during zazen or theravada meditation,
the cultural context is largely irrelevant.

Something to be aware of though... Atheism seems to strive to convert people away from a belief system; it wouldn't continue to exist once the goal is achieved. Religions cannot exist if they have a true ending point, other than false promises of things in an afterlife that a current life can't offer

Sure militant atheists do peoples' heads in, but that's what the world deserves with such liberal terms within 'shcizophrenia'. Makes it awkward to filter out those with actual sense

my belief isn't a lie though, if you look at the four noble truths and the eight-fold path, you can see that they are pretty logical really. i don't add much ceremony to it, and i don't involve deities. i just try to desire less and have compassion

if i am wrong, my life isn't harmed because of it... i might even be enriched by such beliefs!
