I like your mentality. Most of the younger guys don't seem to get this, they want everthing instant. I think it's the world we live in nowadays, ever thing is instant.MKRUGGER wrote:I'm 15, I produce because it takes effort, you can't just get up and do it one day, you have to learn, and you never stop learning.

Re: Why Do You Produce?
i'm not that creative to be honest, i'm just a huge nerd when it comes to electronic music. i like sounds and i'm fascinated by what you can with them.
3 years ago when i was about 15 i started listening to breakcore/idm stuff and i saw in how many ways people warped the amen break, a simple 7 second breakbeat, into thousands of different things. i couldn't stop trying to analyze how certain sounds were made and wanted to understand. i then tried out a demo of fl studio and some ableton version that was on a nine inch nails remix cd but it wasnt until a friend showed me logic that i finally started producing.
i cut amens, sampled mathcore and other strange stuff, mashed generic ragga acapellas with generic reese basses... and now, 3 years later, i still have not finished a single tune
i toyed around with lots of styles and genres and i was close to finding something i'm comfortable with when an accident fried my mac
but i don't care if i haven't finished something yet. i'm only 18 and i'm just happy with learning new stuff. today it might be resampling and getting that damn antares talkbox to work, tomorrow it might be how to make drums like current value. there's always something new and exciting.

19 here.
Been listening Dubstep since about 2 years now, got hooked after I heard Benga and Coki's smasher "Night".
I was curious if I could make this "so easy genre".
Got a Reason 4 crack from a friend and started messing around.
Been improving rapidly since I've been here and finally got the cash to get some legit software.
As been said before, keeps me out of trouble and I needed something "healthy" to focus on after I got addicted on World of Warcraft.
Basically, addicted to music right now.
I'm know in school as "the kid with the headphones"

True..3za wrote:I like your mentality. Most of the younger guys don't seem to get this, they want everthing instant. When things come quick and easy, they're usually not that great, and you don't appreciate them as much..
But when you take time, and do something that isn't just the easy way out, the outcome is a lot greater, and you end up happier that you took the harder route

I agree with you though, in this day and age, every one expects things to come at the snap of a finger, and it doesn't always work like that..
I know it will take time to become an outstanding producer, but it's the ride there that counts, I love it ;D
Now let me shut up, with the offtopicness.

Re:
Same story here. I have to create something daily, been that way as long as I can remember, beats/painting/drawing/ whatever........So when I got hooked on Dubstep It made sense to start producing I'd been a Dj 8 years and felt like I should be contributing to the scene. Self taught, the first year was so miserable. Learning how to really use the software almost drove me insane. Still......it's been a very rewarding experience for me. Glad I stuck with it.deadly habit wrote:to share what i hear in my head that and always been creative from painting to drawing playi8ng various instruments
