Newbie wants feedback

Post by FlameIbrah » Mon Nov 22, 2010 8:41 pm

Hey guys!
I'm pretty new to the dubstep genre as a whole, but I am a very open-minded person and musician.
I play guitar and compose what I would call experimental fusion metal, alongside more conventional songs within the metal/hardcore and otherwise heavy music medium.
Although I've only been into dubstep for a little while i figured I would try and use my songwriting skills in a new and, for me, unexplored genre.
Without further adieu, I present to you my second attempt at making something resembling a proper dubstep tune:

Let me know what you guys think! Whatever you may have to say, be it good, bad, indifferent, or violent, I wanna hear it!
Also, any tips about structure, layering, samples, mixing, mastering, etc. would be greatly appreciated as well.

got an interesting mixture of sounds. the first bass is kind of plain sounding in my opinion. maybe throw some more effects on it. feelin' it overall

I kind of wanted the first bass sound to be rather plain to sort of introduce the main theme and then have it go every which way from there.

good ideas, think you need to make some room for the ideas to come through, maybe sidechain the kicks and snare so they hit a bit harder!
