what's up with my apocalyptic dreams?
every few weeks I have my usual apocalyptic dreams.. most of the time involving a lot of water and tsunami's
The strange thing is that I'm never afraid, I'm just always finding a way to escape with friends and family. The dreams are quite fun actually...
Anyone who also sometimes dreams about apocalypses?

Re: what's up with my apocalyptic dreams?
i have my fair share of them, and strangely enough they're all as personal and fulfilling as you describe them.. which leads me to believe they're based on personal fear/concern... i could very well be incorrect but that's just my take on it...

you might be right..
one time I accidentally killed jimi hendrix in my dream. He was a puppet in my dream-stratego-game. I made a wrong strategical move and it killed him
I felt sad that morning

Think they are trying to process them all into a prediction
Personally, making sense out of dreams isn't necessarily for us. Still interesting.
See 2012 recently by any chance?

Re: what's up with my apocalyptic dreams?
Had a dream once where I was sittin on the worktop of my kitchen talkin to family then out of nowhere I felt this huge boom and surge of energy accompanied by inreasingly bright lights. Knew straight away it was a nuclear bomb and it immediately sunk in that that was to be my last moment. Squeezed out the words "I Love You" before it crescendoed so bright and intense that I woke up in a state of panic/relief. Wasn't all that enjoyable.

Re: what's up with my apocalyptic dreams?
Had to dig up this thread, as I just had the most amazing dream in apocalyptic trend.
My bet is that because I was working night shifts early on in the week but yesterday I had to come in for a late shift suddenly, pretty much breaking up my pattern from the last couple of weeks or so (counting also the weekends which are with going out and all in similar sleep/live pattern as night shift), my body must have reacted awkwardly or something.
1) the strange thing was I woke up about 5 times (like jet lag), drank a quick sip of water and go back to sleep and the dream would continue....
2) of course I don't remember many parts of the dream but it was more or less a continuing and logical story, I've NEVER ever had this logic in my dreams as far as I can remember
3) I suffer from bad dreams a lot, on account of never going to a shrink I suppose (lol), but this was quite different: I was at peace and I accepted the events happening around me.
I don't want to make this post overly long and as I said, I forgot many parts of the dream (like the start for example). Any way, I was a decorated general or someone of high position in the future. I remember coming from another planet where war had waged between humans. Assumption: Earth was being abandoned because it was perishing and the human race had moved to other planet where war had been waged between factions (this is all vague now): all I remember clearly was being a decorated person returning to Earth, which was suffering from constant rainfall, and I mean constant: there was water or rain present at all times in my dream. It turns out I returned from the place where the war had waged, to die on Earth. I was ill, I felt ill throughout the dream and I felt like I was going to die of illness by the end of it. I was weak and bedridden. I was in bed for most of the dream in a sort of tent camp.
Any way, as I was laying there on my (assumed) deathbed, with rain pouring outside, certain people from my past came to visit me. I remember three persons clearly but I'm sure there were a lot more. The first was my ex girlfriend, one of the few I've had. I still consider her to be my truest love. She came to say good bye to me, or forgive me or whatever. I wanted to hug her and have her lay beside me. At first she refused and said that could not happen, but later she accepted and we lay side by side and I felt at peace with my impending death and the surroundings. Then, a certain old friend that betrayed me once visited. I wanted to go away from him, I didn't want to see him and crawled outside on hands and feet in the rain, but he came out after me and as I stumbled in pools and mud, he picked me up and carried me inside and I forgave him and was again at peace. Lastly, a girl I really fancy came to visit me: she said everything was going to be all right and kissed me and I again felt at peace.
I remember the dream ending with war. and me being helpless and sick in bed not being able to help, but feeling at peace. I've never had such a religious, or even moral a dream before. Even when drugs were involved (not this time). I must say I've been under a lot of stress lately and work has been a bitch but I can usually shake off things like that pretty easily. I remember especially the feeling of being immobilised, sickly and helpless, but also feeling warmth from the people around me and being at peace with whatever was to come.
Interesting.

Re: what's up with my apocalyptic dreams?
i had an apocalypse dream couple of months ago
escaping from a city, nuclear blast, turned around and walked into the blast, didn't feel any pain, was just alive inside of it
woke up, felt great, the end

nah when you say it like that it resonates with what i was sayin yesterday tbh, hadn't even thought about it like that really
like a desire, or a draw to be in something so destructive
the escaping part is like running from life, the destruction and the blast.. that was serenity
Re: what's up with my apocalyptic dreams?
Or, the city represents society/the people in your life - crowding your mind/decision making
the nuclear blast is whatever it is you fear (failure/responsibility/success etc)
You had to get through the city (push through the people in your life) in order to escape the blast (escape your fear)
When you choose to face your fear you discover it cannot harm you and the blast is nothing more than a new state of freedom
....that or it was a wet dream and you merked your bed sheets
Ah, don't mind me! I'm a sucker for apophenia

I have a few apocalyptic dreams. Not as many as I used to
Now I keep having ones about my teeth falling out, fighting someone to the death but losing strength and knowing I will suddenly lose, being a werewolf, record shopping,
(and sex stuff)
