@green plan- really great chill tune, the vocals are spot on. Nice crisp mix, deep sub. Kick could perhaps do with a bit more bottom end if you can do it without clashing with the sub (personal preference, works fine as it is) great track!

@vcore: i like the melody and the bassline. they work together well, and in my headphones the mixdown sounds good. I think you could do with some more variation though, it seems like not too much happens. maybe cut out the sub occasionally so that it has more effect when it’s there, but nice tune!

@greenplan: i really like how you use the sub in this one, it gives it a lot of weight when you use it sparingly like that! i’m also really diggin the vocals, they’re good and you’ve mixed them pretty well. they also gel with your beat and backing very well, good work! i really liked this one. maybe a section or two with some more higher end percussion though? that’s just my style though, totally your decision, it doesn’t necessarily need them.

@gravity: nice production work, but i gotta say i really wanted to hear a melody. however, the bass is very dark and the percussion matches it very well. it’s a well made song, but maybe more variation and a melody could help it out a little?

@trainkrek: ahh that bass is cleeean. it sounds awesome man, great work on that. the drums are a bit too simple for my taste, but if that’s your style then tell me to fuck off. it’s a good one dude, i enjoyed it!

alright, here's my new one. some liquidy drum and bass. if you have the knowledge, help me out with the mixdown a little, but otherwise any comments on the musicality of it (ie what could i add/take away/change in the drums/melody/stuff like that) would be super helpful. thanks in advance!

@green plan - Thanks for the feedback, glad you like the song. I'm definately going to give it another mixdown in about 2 weeks once I've got some new monitors and room treatment, although I think I cut of a little bit too much top end off the final mix when I did a bit of litiming and eq'ing having listened back with fresh ears.

Your track is superb really deep, the vocals sound great, the percussion works really and the mixdown sounds good on my monitors good job

I'm going to see if I can switch it up and bit and maybe steal the melody near the end of the track and put it some where in the main drop, might try and bit of filtering as well to get everything to makeit abit more interesting.

@peggy - hey man you should probably give better feedback than that! anyway your tune is very interesting. I really like the idea but I think your bass noises are a little over-distorted I think if the sounds were cleaner it would be way better, otherwise this is fucking sick. Also the mid-range basses are a little loud in the mix but not by a whole lot. I think with some more mix-down work this will be a monster. Drums need a little more punch to em too I think but that would be fixed if the mid-range were turned down I think.

@Vcore - I like all the ideas in this, here are a few of my own. the hi-hats sound a little loud and same with that lead synth in the mix. Your kick can do with some eq or sidechaining with the sub and the sub can be brought up so they both bang together. That's what I have been doing. So yea I think drums and sub can go up in volume, hats and synth down a little. Also look to adding some transitional things such as sweeps or other noises fx or fills to help keep it moving. Otherwise its pretty interesting. At least your mix was pretty well in the ballpark without monitors so good work there.

@Johnst - Kick and snare could go up more in the mix, maybe turn all the other stuff down a little. also when your (bass)melody stops really abruptly its a little unpleasant,Its a little too blunt I think but then again its your piece so I dunno if thats what was intended. Also your panned shaker/hats whatever are a little bit loud in the mix not terrible though. The ending was ridiculously abrupt, this sounds like the kind of track I would let fade out. The harmonies and melodies throughout are awesome and have great movement, but I don't know much about music theory or whatever to be too technical with it.

@Peggy: The bass needs to come down in the mix! along with alot of other things! It seems like its clipping its so loud, Liked the intro and the build up. Nice percussion you have going on

@ Impey a-list-distance, Im feeling the bells, and atmos in the intro. The drop is good, and the sub really kicks. The Track is a really nice roller, but i do fell that it could do with a switch up around the 3min mark. Overall solid work

@ Lord bird, That sample, and break is rinsed lol. Mix wise it is good, but the track is not my cup of tea. I did like the outro, but that is probably im a atmos/pad guy. Did you use the pogo in FL on th break?

@peggy, thats some mad distortion you got going. This is FUCKING MENTAL (youtube filthly comment here). Your track sound to lound, and compressed/limited to me, I had to turn my volume right down before you destroyed my house.

@ Johnst, I like the intro, and the vibes in this track. I think the musically is fine, the only thing I think could be inproved is the mix. Make it sound more full, and give it some more bit imo.

this is an awesome track, I'm not a fan of the break drums, but it might just be because I'm headached as fuck that they irritate me so much, everything else is sick.

this is on the "chiller", I really like it man, but I feel like I've heard it a million times too, I think it could do with some...personality, like I said though, as far as how my ears take it, it's awesome. Also I almost forgot, it could use with variation, I would have a hard time hearing the whole thing unless I was burnin' it or in deep thought (maybe that's the Idea? )

well, nah fuck it 8.5, it's too damn short. Serious though I love it, it's got that kind of rolling old school gangsta feel, I think so anyways.

@ Subvox: I get the minimal vibe you're going for, works as well. Not really my taste but all the verbed out weird sounds are nice! Maybe more sub? Bit light on that area for me too.

@3za: sounding lush! Pads are eeery as.

@Impey: love the roller. Maybe a bit of tidying up the mix, but the tune is solid. Percussion is really on point. Maybe a bit more variation, but dope tune.

@LordBid: really liking the drums, but agree with others that bass is a little aggressive. Again could be personal preference. Pads and atmos are tops though.

Here's a new tune of mine, whole lot of home samples pitched etc, a bit weird on it. Appreciate any feedback.

@Impey: (the latter, dark tune.) if i had to name my absolute favourite of these four, this'd be it no doubt. nice, deep elements and congas/bongos/whatever which are always really nice. good production value. nice vocal samples. if it was mastered, i'd might even grab this on wax!

@3za: sorry mate, not getting this at all. sounds like some eerie garageband samples mashed together. maybe i'm missing something?

@Subvox: the chord progression is pretty nice, but the wobble is (sorry) awful to my liking and really too much on the verby side. the beat's also too weird for my taste.

@greenplan: very interesting stuff, really feeling that homey, organic mount kimbieish feel of the track. you really should get a better mic to record those samples, you're on the right tracks! nice, deep sub and enviable vocal work. all in all, promising stuff!

Johnst: Good energy. I like the drums, but needs more top end - sounds a bit muddy at the moment. The hats need more more velocity variation too as they sound a bit too 'machine gun'. Needs a lot of work on the mix, but some great elements though.

Peggy: Creepy intro. Damn its like my speakers are erupting with all the distortion. Very well made, but maybe could do with cleaning up a bit to make everything sound more crisp. Big sound overall.

Lordbid: Really liking the vibe in this. Loads of subtle and neat variations. Loving the beat - particulary the slow down near the end. Could do with more shine in the high end tho - maybe more splashy cymbals or something. Awesome work.

Impey - Distance: Niiiice. This is right up my street. Would like some longer reverb on the snare every now and again. Could do with a bit more variation. Dig this a lot overall.

3za: I like this. Those pads are really unsettling. The sounds give this a real IDM feel. Good stuff.

Green Plan: Great intro - but a bit long. Some lovely atmopsheres and use of samples throughout the track. This is mesmerizing. Could do do with a melodic hook to accomp the piano to drive the track more. I really like the ambient vibes.

@ Skaven- really like this though not my usual sort of thing. The really resonant bass sound is a bit too robocop for me, the pattern is cool just the sound is a bit too aggy, Alternately I think the pitch-bendy synth coming in at 0.16 would love a bit more distortion. Drums are nice maybe get a bit more hat/percussion action in there- but still sparse

@ Neff/Naider- really like all the sounds in there. There's a ton of info here about mixing, it will get those drums coming through better and probably bump the volume up a bit. Musically all good. Throwing some more delay on those twinkly parts as certain points couldn't be a bad thing.

Dunno if soundcloud is down at the moment, no more of the tracks are working I was intending to do the rest of you up to the current post.

when you ask for feedback you should give feedback. it's common courtesy and part of the forum rules. i've seen plenty of people on here post a lot of feedback and receive very little, which can be frustrating as hell as we're all simply trying to improve as producers and artists.
