...in terms of quality. This thread is dumb, it's personal preference and I'm stating mine.

.................doesn't really look like you were just stating your personal preference.wubstep wrote:But we have hip hop too, which trumps the US scene, mainstream and underground.
but I know, you just got embarrassed and tried to play it off cool. it's all good.
Re: Fuck the UK
well it's a fact that there is no mainstream UK HH taking over. Your exports of hip hop in the mainstream are virtually non existant. So that's false.
Underground hip hop, if it even existed still, wouldn't be 'taking over' anything as then it would cease to be underground. It may be taking over your neighborhood, but Mattron and myself can confirm that it's sure as fuck not taking over here.
I was just chattin shit earlier but before i have a go I'm wanting to make sure you're trying to compare the talent level of UK Hip Hop to that of what we have stateside.

Re: Fuck the UK
How can that be interpreted any other way than my preference?
Embarrased, of what?
Should be embarrassed of how petty this is.
Enough, tunes.
I didn't say it was 'taking over' anything, I said the UK scene was now superior in my opinion, don't see what's so hard to digest about that.

Re: Fuck the UK
Lol @ how angsty Americans are getting over questioning US Hip Hop, but would soon throw a hissy fit if you mentioned UK Bass music being massively superior to their scene.

Re: Fuck the UK
UK HipHop is bollocks to be fair, the underground shit is too po faced, the mainstream shit is tired and cliched unfortunately
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.
Re: Fuck the UK
lol @ being concerned about mainstream hip hop on either side of the pond anyway... it's all fucking shit, especially recently. Like really fucking bad.

Re: Fuck the UK
It depresses me what's regarded as "hip hop" in the mainstream these days.

I think we all know UK Bass music kills US any day of the week..onelove. wrote:Lol @ how angsty Americans are getting over questioning US Hip Hop, but would soon throw a hissy fit if you mentioned UK Bass music being massively superior to their scene.

Re: Fuck the UK
with us and uk hip-hop it seems to be the case that all the best production is uk but our vocalists cannot hold a candle to the best of the us
obviously there are exceptions

Re: Fuck the UK
i think the reason i never got into hip hop much is because everyone is so territorially petty about what is good and what is not, its all so anorak-y.
everyone likes different things from a vocalist, cant people just accept that and appreciate each other scenes attempts?
...oh wait, thats not human nature.

neither UK > US
or
UK < US
but
UK =/= US

U.S is bangin
Re: Fuck the UK
To me, your producers are all attempting to sound like 1994 New York Hip Hop. Talented producers in there but few are doing really anything innovative.Pistonsbeneath wrote:with us and uk hip-hop it seems to be the case that all the best production is uk but our vocalists cannot hold a candle to the best of the us

Re: Fuck the UK
thread that's not particularly interesting goes 5+ pages... i always click it, because i know that people are arguing
Re: Fuck the UK
any kid who's trying to say the bass music scene in the US is - on a wide level - more innovative, successful in the mainstream, or progressive than the UK's.... is a fool.Mattron wrote:I think we all know UK Bass music kills US any day of the week..onelove. wrote:Lol @ how angsty Americans are getting over questioning US Hip Hop, but would soon throw a hissy fit if you mentioned UK Bass music being massively superior to their scene.
coming from an american mind you.
yes this thread is personal preference, but even if my personal preference were DZ, 12th Planet, Antiserum, The Widdler, etc., the reason they are even able to be a preference is because of good things happening across the pond.
ps - Roots Manuva himself said UK hip hop has struggled (not as much recently however) to find its own voice and growth.
