new to the game

Post by jason4g63t » Thu Dec 09, 2010 12:53 pm

I have gargeband and ive been doing some searching around and found this video. There is a certain sound at 4:52 seconds that I cant figure out how to make anyone know it is driving me crazy been at it for over 4 hours now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3awly_2oXo
On another note any advice for gargeband would be greatly helpful along with links to other apps that will work with a mac all I have found so far are windows programs.

Gotcha, I'm gonna save you a lot of effort right here and say you aint gonna be able to make anything decent with garageband. If your feeling the limitations it's time to step up! If your short for cash then check out 'Reaper'. Very cheap compared to the other big names.

-w- just because you're intimidated by them don't go slating em
renoise ain't that hard OP right on their site they have videos that will walk you through basic operations and some advanced features
also once you get used to it they are a lot quicker to work in than a traditional sequencer

I started with ejay, dance 6 and 7 was pretty powerful and you can mix and match samples between ALL of the version. So buy a few and you have like 1 a 1 million sample soundbank lol. Also has sort of a compressor. a couple of built in synths and is mega mega easy to find you way around. I used this for about 6months i guess then pushed on through to fruityloops best thing about ejay is the older ones are about £5 and the newer ones are around £20. It is basic but taught me ALOT and a lot of people never really explored it properly. There is a lot more on there than people think. Have tried others but a mixture of versatility and familiarity i keep going back to FL (dabble in ableton).
Im pretty sure FL is all good on MAC, problem is some of the best synths for FL dont like the mac lol. Most of the freeware for FL is Windows only as well. Mac is good indeed, but you have brought into the art of spending SHIT LOADS of cash on your gear lol.

Aside note. Mac is good for the creative crew (design, music etc) but set your windows pc up well and its just as good.

My PC is a quadcore 2.4ghz 5400 socket. 4GB RAM onboard sound and graphics and it holds it own with FL (which is actually pretty thirsty) warranty is up soon so new board. more RAM and a soundcard.
So far the system, including optical mouse and keyboard,AND 19" widescreen monitor cost me £340..... 12months warranty..... job done.

This mac has a 3.06ghz i3 processor and 4gb 1333mhz ddr3 ram...
Most of all my other computers have AMD processors.

Fruity Loops is NOT available for Mac.

The only way to use Fruity Loops on a Mac is if you run Bootcamp and boot your Mac up in Windows. Do-able, but likely not worth the effort unless you know, and love Fruity. Reaper is low cost, and even Logic is relatively inexpensive.

What are you talking about? Plugins arent made based on operating system or DAW, they are made based on AU, and VST. Macs notoriously have trouble runnign vsts, even in emulators, but the way you word it it makes it sound like you think plugins are made just for Fuity, they arent.
