they don't know shit about dubstep but they like to pretend they do so all the gullabull teens across the UK can still go "yeaaah!!! I love dubstep it's cool !!!" who have no clear expereience with electronic dance music because it wasn't fashionable then. I can't be into dubstep anymore because of the fucking 14 year olds into it now.

fuck radio1 again, have they only just discovered dubstep or something? it's been around since like, a decade now and dubstep was in its prime around the mid-late 00s.

look at you all sucking up to radio1 licking their asshole clean, you DO fucking realize this is the same station that plays top40 shite all day from 8 till about 10. fucking Like a G6 song, JLS, black eyed fucking peas.

if you were real dubstep fans you wouldn't even be fucking around on this thread. fuckme!!!
build knowledge about the history of this sound before you get on some high horse. dream teem on Radio 1 circa 2001-2003 were playing UKG primarily, but they would also throw in the first fragments of this sound, before it was even called dubstep into their shows. this is that time when UKG was getting away from cheesy vocals, and going darker. john peel, not only was the head of Radio 1 back in the late sixties, but was the first to play distance, plastician and digital mystikz on national FM radio back in 2003-2004. radio 1 was created because pirate radio was gaining too much popularity.
Also, dubstep was in its prime from 2004-2006. I think most people would agree?

radio 1 are the copyright holders and seeing as they were good enough to put this show together for you it shouldn't be too hard for people to respect their wishes and listen back online for the next week and get their viewing figures up (which will only help to get more such shows in the future), after which point they will be kind enough to provide you with a high quality recording rather than a rip of the stream

I think a lot of people slagging off radio one forget that I spent a year and a half presenting a dubstep show on their station.

This was back in 2006 when there was not a huge amount of airtime for the sound in mainstream channels.

It happens to be the very same show that skream and benga will be doing soon, so big up to them. The popularity of dubstep now, compared to when I did the show in 2006 means they've got a great chance of getting a weekly slot now.

Back to the sound clash.... It was proper fun, we thought it was really close. Skreams mix definitely tipped it in our favour!

Chef and I had absolutely no organization before the show so going first in the mix round and the heavy hitter round was difficult as we had no idea what to play. To say mixing in a room with no monitors and delay on the headphones was a nightmare would be an understatement! I need to listen back to the two mixes I had to execute as I have absolutely no idea what they sounded like.

The classic slimzee style mashup dub came in handy in the end as it meant we managed to get a lot of snippets of the London classics into our mix within the time frame.

Was a shame we went first in that round too as we had p money itching to spit some lyrics but we were told we weren't allowed to do that, although everyone else did!

well said Plastician, that 2006 in new djs slot was massive. You killed it last night and UK Dubstep was (almost) as much a winner as the London crew.

I can understand why some people are apprehensive about dubstep getting a lot of attention, particularly off Radio 1. The station is primarily listened to by idiots...I mean have you ever heard Fearne Cottons show? Jesus fucking christ.

Dubstep has already started showing signs of saturation, respect for everyone for still pushing the sounds I enjoy and no hate to the people who putting the good shows on Radio 1 but this is how it starts, it's going to curb creativeness as the formulated sound becomes the norm (well, it's already been happening for awhile now). Still...one of these shows could change someone life, like Dubstep Warz did for many of us. Just think it's all going to go down the shitter sooner or later.

Big up John Peel though, pushing Napalm Death and Doom in the 80s and then still being on the front of one of the greatest sounds right before he died. Pure legend.
