First up we have Zagrava, which begins ominously with a collage of low-end drones and eerily slowed snippets of ghostly dialogue; the perfect accompaniment to a peyote infused nightmare sequence from a Terry Gilliam film. The core rhythmic element; what sounds like an old typewriter pitched up - continues the sense that this is music for a bygone (?) dystopian era, where people sit behind desks tapping away incessantly, mindlessly, behind vapid screens... The mournful, yet dreamy musical motif appears later - seemingly offering a reprieve - taking the listener further on a sonic excursion into the strange & unsettling - the signatures of the artist Reixtra. However, it's the elements of bass & the skittering percussion that remind us that this is most defiantly music for the post - dubstep generation - and then some.

Next is Khamsin. Opening with a mournful drone reminiscent of a distant ancient Cessna aircraft, heard through an abandoned industrial pipe, then an insistent finger bell motif overlying a melancholic sub bass is soon introduced. It is with the sparse yet hypnotic darbuka that 'Khamsin' really kicks off - heading towards a dancefloor (or a moonlit, puddle-strewn deserted warehouse floor...). This is music for those of a dark, rhythmic and industrial persuasion. Whispered ghostly snatches of dialogue pepper this aural odyssey, appealing to those entranced with Sam Shackleton's recent Berlin-based excursions.

Altimeter's dubbed and blunted re-rub of 'Zagrava' smacks of the quality you'd expect from this talented producer & DJ - rapidly establishing a reputation for himself in his new home - London town.

Fresh from recent outings on Frijsfo Beats and Urban Scrumping, we at Morph are excited to present Sclist's take on Reixtra's melancholic tribal rhythmastery, with this huge retro-futuro bleep-fuelled, acid-singed techno-funk workout of 'Khamsin'. A finale to an EP that definitely reaches the parts others can only jealously twitch at.

To celebrate Morph Recordings' most complete release to date we are delighted to also offer you Altimeter's trip into the dubbier depths of the bass continuum - his reworking of 'Khamsin'. This is a FREE download for ALL to accompany the Reixtra release. Please feel free to host it yourself:
