I'm agnostic. I believe there is something that happesn when it comes to religion, but tbh I'm not really at a stage in my life where I sufficiently give a shit to try and figure out what it is.

i believe in "god"
the one that christianity, islam, sikhism etc.. go on about
For me god is a force or energy in the world beyond comprehension its not exactly something I can easily put in to words, all i know is that doing good deeds and stuff that makes my soul happy makes me feel closer to "god"
I am a religous/spiritual person to a certain extent but not a strict follower word for word, I just try to be a good person to others and help when I can. I like to go to my place of worship when I can too, it helps me feel at peace. I'm sure people have their own ways to attain this feeling wheter it be meditation, yoga, listenin to some tunes or smoking a spliff but I find this is the best way for me.
If my mother wasn't so religous and didn't raise me how she did I'm sure I wouldn't give a shit and be totally oblivous to all this religous stuff and believe as many of my friends do that its all about who has the cooler imaginary friend. I also believe that all religions are true and valid and that none is superior to another.
All monotheistic religions believe in the same god, but its their prophets(jesus, mohammed) that people begin to idolize and thats where the problems with organized religion come in.
Its funny though, these prophets/gurus that people idolize even said do not idolize us we are the messengers; follow our teachings but religous fanatics that people associate with organized religion are so far off base from these teachings it is ridiculous...

Is it all the same god? I've always wondered about that.

sure. at least judaism, christianity and islam reference the same god, as they're all based off of each other. the torah is half of the bible and muhammad thinks of jesus as a prophet of god, just like moses or himself.
there's even a part in the qu'ran that says something like "don't argue with the jews and christians, as we all worship the same god" or something like that, i've only read it once a couple years ago.

i never got why people started worshipping the prophets themselves, that's just plain bullshit. prophets are wise men, philosophers, spiritually enlighted people. they're also a product of their time and that should be kept in mind when interpreting their words.
no human should worship another human, i'm sure every prophet would have agreed with that.

ok guys, tell me what i am :6:

So, worshipping deity = good. Worshipping voice of deity on Earth = bad?

well... yes. if burial were god, and his message untrue, and a dj plays it. then you thank the dj for playing it, if he's particularly good at doing so then you admire him or try and learn from him, but the thing that made the dj special in the first place was that dubplate god, err i mean burial gave him.

i suck at metaphors -w-

Religion is a baby step towards God, sets some good foundations
But thats about it..
part from the war making, money making, 'keeping people ignorant' side.
Yes. Well done, now you feel 'part of something'

I'm not too sure what I am atm. It definitely ends in -theist, I just need a trendy prefix which I can back up by mentioning a book I haven't read.

belalala wrote:looking at global history makes religion a glaringly obvious system of mass control. leaders of early civilizations used ideological control to remain in positions of power and utilize the population to their advantage. later on it became a means of economic prosperity and political fearmongering tool.

i believe energy and spirit exists in the world, there are things about the universe that we will never understand, and to some extent many of the ideas in some eastern religions. but i think organized religion is mostly evil and outdated.
The root of 'religion' is based on the Latin 'religio' which means 'to bind together', European/American perspectives of what consitute a religion don't hold for other cultures like Asian Buddhism. It isn't just leaders that control people in ideology, the ideology can control everyone without being used itself.

Good philosophies and outlooks should be falsifiable, i.e. you can accept your wrong and change your ideas, otherwise things just stagnate and get silly (like the representative of the Pope that visited Copernicus, he refused to look through a telescope at other planets because what he was to be shown was said to not exist in his religion :? )
