no point in me coming on here to tell people it's better than what they listen to, it won't make them listen to it.

i just dont understand how dj's who've been around from the beginning can enjoy mixing that stuff. guys like plastician.

You obviously aren't aware of what kind of stuff I was playing in the early days. I was always playing stuff harder than the other djs back then. I played a lot of instrumental grime which had a lot of midrange in it, and mixed it with the subbier dubstep stuff that people like mala were making.

I also produced a lot of grime back then, and still do a lot of grime influenced production now.

Today I still do exactly the same as I did then. I play a bit of grime, vocal and instrumental. I mix this with dubstep, both tearout and chill out.

How people find this so baffling still surprises me. Just because I was there from day one don't mean I have to turn my nose up at everything people who came after me are doing.

Unfortunately that is the mentality of this forum.

I don't like a great deal of the tear out music that people are producing, but I also find a lot of the chilled out stuff very boring. I have a very broad ear for music and my taste in dubstep is no different to that. It is possible to like the cheesiest music and still enjoy the most headstrong stuff too. If you just stop reading into what people do or don't believe to be deemed cool or current on places like this forum, it's easy to admit you like something that other people might find awful.

I think the reason you may not understand why I play some of the stuff I do is because you, like a lot of people on this forum probably aren't fully aware of all the stuff I actually do play on my radio show and at gigs. If you listen to a set of mine from 2004 and listen to one now I think sonically, the idea is still the same, the styles have just switched up a bit.

It sounds like I'm ranting, I'm not - I'm just trying to explain how my head works.

I am always surprised when people say things like what you just said. I've probably stayed truer to the sounds I was playing back in 2003 more than most people. Have a listen back to one of my sets from then and put it next to my latest rinse podcast and I think you might begin to understand how I enjoy the music I do now. I just like it all, it's that simple! I know people on here are passionate about sub genres within the sound but I personally am passionate about all streams of the sound, and bass music in general for that matter - it's the bass that I'm into ultimately.

I love mala, pinch and horsepower.... But I also love stuff by flux pavilion and jakes... Same way I love what skream, benga and artwork are doing with the magnetic man stuff. I'm not ashamed to admit that I like what the majority of people on this forum think is garbage, I don't deal with politics I deal with playing music I enjoy.
