Holy hell he has a lot of comments...

I still agree that quality is way more useful than quantity when it comes to marketing yourself to ppl as a musician.

People generally dont like having things pushed in their faces, as it were.

In this world of absolute relentless (and sometimes underhand) advertising. The last thing we want is arogant cockslaps, as someone put in on here the other day, infiltrating our message box.

Besides, it kinda takes some of the joy away from discovering a new artist for yourself.

Reading through this thread got me kinda worried... I know Im certainly not the type of person to have a bot send out spam or have a huge list of people to spam everytime i buy a new pair of socks... Bu when i do put together a tune and genuinely need feedback i do send out messages to people who i beleive have a certain expertise... May it be fellow djs who happen to have good ears or producers that might not know me but who i admire and who's words i would value greatly.

Would most people consider this rude?

Naw man. When someone sends something and asks for feedback from me (which rarely happens -w- ) I usually feel quite honoured to give them my opinion. If someone simply spams me and says "hey check your tune its cool check mine" I get a bit miffed. Especially when they obviously just copied pasted the comment from person to person. One time I had a guy PM me saying, "dude cool set I like trance too check mine bro." The most amazing thing was, there was no trance set, just some drum and bass -w-

I might get some hate for this, but I don't care about the spam and I respect the guy for promoting his shit instead of talking about how someone else did on a forum. No offense to anyone here because I already know there are some great producers here. Point is though, he did what he wanted to do the way he knew how and succeeded. Complaining about him personally, okay, that's cool, he may be a dickhead, but complaining about him doing something irritating to some people to get where he is... that just seems dumb to me.

It's like complaining about getting knocked the fuck out in a fight because someone kicked you in the balls, either way you were both out to hurt each other if you get what I mean.

what success though? soundcloud stats and comments?
generally those kind of tactics rub label owners, and the people who's attention you would want on your side the wrong way.

I get about a message or two a week.

Strange thing is, He uses my first name (which is on my profile) so unless he has some kind of automated Bot doing his posting, hes actually sending me tracks personally.

I dont like his work on the most part, but his latest one actually did grab my attention.
Saying this, I dont get along with mass spammers, and am waiting for the next message to be sent to me, and im gonna interrogate him! haha.

Maybe someone should point him to this thread??? We need answers

sending your tunes out to relevant people is fine if your looking for genuine feedback, but this guy is sending spam to everyone, and getting a fat head over the polite comments sent back.

Apart from producer types, not many people I know have even heard of soundcloud. surely youtube is a good place to spam a la mt eden.

Everybody does what they do :l .. If he gets kicks out of it, and it makes him happy, why not? ..

I do what makes me happy.. Spamming doesn't make me happy, but if it did.. I'd do it.

Life is all about happiness ;D
Your philosophy is flawed. By your logic if what makes someone happy is at the cost of others this does not matter, aslong as it makes them happy.

So if someone found murdering people gave them happiness, this would be ok by your philosophy, because it makes them happy. The negative impact of others don't matter.

Read my first post in this thread. Also I can't think of anyone who is big in the music industry using his tactics, he is only shooting his self in the foot in the long term.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BTW this thread is just feeding this tnuc, didn't we have a thread just last week about spammers, and it was all about this guy. Can't we get this locked, as its not directly related to production, and is just going to make more people check his tracks.
