Skream thread on DOA
Things seem to be pretty good here in Houston.sek [espionage] wrote: Maybe the same is true down south?
Lots of support from the dnb crowd as well as the main players.
Of course there are going to be some that don't really feel
the sound as much, but the respect is def there.
Dubstep resonates very well in the city of Screw.
agreed. i've talked to a few dnb people, and even if they dont like the sound so much they got respect for what ya doinsdf3 wrote:Things seem to be pretty good here in Houston.sek [espionage] wrote: Maybe the same is true down south?

Re: Skream thread on DOA
I am a member of DOA but i kept well away from that thread however i thought people might be interested in it over here.Judging by the response i was right.Slightly more replies to the DOA thread than this one. Both threads seem to have a fare balance of opinions each having a share of bigots and clueless people ignorant to each scene.EFA wrote:Nice try mate.Baron_von_Carlton wrote:Im not trying to start any hate...
Forums lol
(first time I've ever been on DOA - Mmmmm)
Personaly i cant see why the two get compared all the time.Suppose a lot of old Junglists like myself have got into Dubstep in a big way.Its just a fresh scene for me i find it good to dance to.As i do with Broken Beat,dancehall/reggae and Techno/House.I dont hate on Jungle its just run its course for me personaly.I started going raving in 1995 so i saw what could be described as Jungles golden era. This time cant be bettered for me so ive retired from the scene. When i go to a Dubstep rave i get the same feeling that i remember from the 90's.
Sorry if ive started some hate on this forum it was not my intention.

Its easy. Its the explosiveness of the music they both have. Drum N bass music & Dubstep music is the best. Big tunes in DNB and Big tunes in Dubstep are that of the same to the listeners of both genres. Its always about the bass, and always about the beats -for both these styles of music. To see Dubstep or DNB performed right it a treat. Almost a sure shot at getting a crowd whipped into a frenzy, that is if either of these 2 styles of music are promoted for properly and performed by the best of talent. I'm into both dnb & dubstep, and I couldnt pick between the 2 in what I thought was better. I know one thing the best DNB music that has ever been written, is being done now, and the same goes for Dubstep. Both these music styles are about futuristic beats and progress of the music's objective: to evolve musically and make better music thats tear dancefloors up. Both theses styles of music take me to that next level of 'mindset' ... so I say: Big up DNB Music & Big up Dubstep Music!Baron_von_Carlton wrote:

i don't think you can even compare this site to DOA in terms of hate. i think the only times i've seen hate on here are towards either tech itch (which i wouldn't consider hate but from maybe a handful of people, the objections to his tunes are usually pretty respectful) and to the thugstep threads (i do not want to bring it back up, just using it as an example).
on DOA i'd say easily half of the stuff i've ever read has been hateful and hostile. dubstepforum has always been very welcoming and supportive (maybe even to the point of being too supportive) of new ideas, which is more than i can say for anything i've seen on DOA.
even on this forum when something doesn't go over well, the majority of replies are respectful, but you're always going to have the asshat who wants to talk shit. DOA resorts to shit-talking within a few replies. DOA members have too much to prove.

the ratio from girls to blokes at dnb and dubstep nights is very low....fact (cue the obligatory "you are not going to the right nights" response)drum syndicate wrote:No, neither have, but honestly, I WOULD PREFER TO BE IN A ROOM WITH A FAIR RATIO OF GUYS TO GIRLS THAN A FUCKING SAUSAGE FEST. And listening to a form of music that I like. I don't get that with DnB. Dubstep nd similar genres have that.
btw - gtfo troll ---------->
Like I said before I would prefer it to be more even so I dont really know why you felt the need to reiterate that in CAPITALS, Im guessing, but maybe its to make doubly sure that everyone in this thread definately knows you are not gay......okay, we get it.
btw - fuck you, who are you to tell me what and where to write? Im no troll, just someone who isnt afraid to speak my mind (although my first post in this thread was pure ironic genius and could be misinterpreted as trolling)

All in personal opinion, and it's dope that both sounds still do it for you. A lot of people have become disinfranchised with a lot of the dnb sound, and just found that dubstep is something that hits them in a similar way. Think of the xplosiveness. It excites the shit outta people, just like dnb used to.
Big ups yerself for being able to keep the love for both burning as strong as you are. I still love dnb, but in the social aspect and with gigs n events n stuff, it's just not the top choice anymore.
