Used to think I should like Lightning Bolt when I was like 15 but realised they're just not that good. The playing with the people isn't a new idea either, bands have been playing in cramped conditions amongst the crowd for ages. Its one of the things that fuels bands like this. Its not that new and its not that special.

Been to loads of punk and grindcore gigs in my time and I am so used to not having a stage that it feels really weird when there is! Nothing beats listening to some music in a cellar or a tiny underground pub with like minded people and just enjoying the music. Very rarely is there a 'mosh pit' but if there is, where we can jump around, it's all friendly as we know most of each other.

The mosh pit is only used surely in shit metal bands 'cause I don't even think the shitty hardcore being pumped out by todays youth even uses pits anymore, they are too busy kicking about and skipping with their new era caps to get pushed about.

^ Exactly.

Probably my favourite band of the last decade, if not ever, changed my life. :) Was there for that video.

Lol Hardcore is very very general. When I speak about Hardcore it's about Deathcore Metalcore and all the shits that end with -core. But originally hardcore is Punk Hardcore isn't it ? Like Stick To Your Guns, Sick Of It All, Hatebreed etc

Hardcore is a spectrum within punk. Grindcore, thrashcore, powerviolence, the noisy Japanese stuff (like Confuse), etc. Stuff like deathcore and 'metalcore' has more to do with metal than hardcore.

Hell, even shit like Hatebreed, most of the heads I know who are really into hardcore call that 'tough guy metal'. Makes sense, anyway. Sounds way more like Pantera than any hardcore record.

There's really no difference between 'old' hardcore and 'new hardcore'. Just between what 'outsiders' call hardcore these days.

There's some arbitrary lines, though. To me, anything more metal than Discordance Axis is metal.

But your not calling Discordance Axis metal are you? Hahaha.

Big up on the Hellnation, GISM, Confuse and Discordance Axis mention though. At least you know what your talking about! :D:

I also call it tough guy hc or metal. The 'brostep' of the dubstep world.

Haha thanks!

Nah, Discordance Axis definitely isn't metal to me. But I think they have quite a lot of metal leanings and I could see why someone hypothetically would.

Pig Destroyer, though, who are called grindcore like.... all the time, just sound like metal to me. Metal riffs, metal drums.. Great band, though.

Yeah same. I ain't a Pig Destroyer fan, just really didn't do anything for me. But there is a fine line between a lot of grindcore bands and death metal bands so it's no biggie. DA isn't metal to me either.

Mosh pits are a good laugh for a while. The Thursday night ones down The Villa in Bournemouth when I was at Uni were a bit brutal at times, got a scar on my knee where I fell down one night. Occasionally you'd get beer boys who'd come in and just start swinging, thinking it was a fight, but they'd always get turned on and removed by security within about 20sec of starting.
