Not quite on proper Juke yet although it is growing on me. Want to give the Planet Mu Footwurk release a rinse see how that is.... havent been masssively feeling any of the Dj Nate shit either tho I will give it time...

Cheers for posting the Fact mix, will give this a go as well..... and who ever posted that Headhunter Juke mix.... now THAT is really really heavy, lots of weight and didnt seem quite as abstract/ as many changes of time signatures as other stuff I heard...

It's been around for ages and personally I feel it needs to stay where it belongs. It's what made it soo original. I prefer the scene of mad hood cats gettin busy on some footwork in a house party than a bunch of confused heads wiggling on the dancefloor. But! like everything else, it had to catch on sooner or later and I'm sure a lot of those chi-town cats are seeing some good income from it.

Rather not listen to it and be un-cool than listen to 90% of it. Fast repetitive boring pish for the most part (from what I've heard on that planet mu ep etc)

Don't doubt that, but the rolling stuff where the beats don't change up at all and just have a repeated vocal do my nut. Doesn't make me want to hunt for any other stuff, I did have a little listen but wasn't feeling it - bar a couple tracks in Headhunters old juke mix from last year.

** anndd a couple new mark pritchard / afrika hitek bits - but I would class the one's I'm feeling more like some juke hybrid sound than juke.

My fave footwork/juke tracks have very little to no vocal samples, that shit grates on my nerves as well... I think juke was a lot better in 08, but the hybrid sounds are better now... Take sully's recent excursion into footwork territory (off of the dusk & blackdown show a couple months back). Those tunes are some of the most next level dancefloor riddims out there atm... Have a listen and tell me what you think if you have time :)

not to mention jamie grind, distal, ramadanman, girl unit, pariah...all use juke elements to great effect.
hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the john..so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz?

First off big ups to how this thread turned out!! I got into juke over the course of 2010 and fell in love, and yea its' exploding no doubt but for good reason. From a producer standpoint, flipping on 80 bpm and a metronome and drumming like a speed demon, then bumping up the bpm to 160 and building ontop of a juke foundation is the most fun I've had making music in a minute. Also its great seeing goodies from the 90s mixed with sick shit coming out today. Also I'm happy I get to show off this tune which no one has mentioned yet. Long live the juke!

whoever said it was, silly boy? Classic example of someone not reading a thread at all... Most of the music posted in this thread is 3-5 years old or more
