Might not necessarily be the most deserving producer to be making a living out of it, but at least somebody is.
This is a waste post. "making a living out of this thing called dubstep that he's labelled his music as" your making out like he had been making music like this before he heard of dubstep and that he hasn't been jumping on the bandwagon. "There are not many people in the world that can actually make a living out of what they love doing, especially when it comes to music" I can tell you now that if he had not been in a well known band then he would be another bedroom producer trying to make the Duurrtyizt dRops n wobblez and spamming the hell out of this place. This guy is only into this music because it is the "hot" thing right now, once it has died down then he will move on to the next Bandwagon.
Majin wrote:Listen, whether you love or hate his music, you need to know this: Skrillex is not a DJ. He does not claim to be a DJ. He does it simply because that's the only way to make money as a producer in the digital age of pirating music. In fact, a lot of the top producers on both ambient and tear out sides of Dubstep are in the same boat. Deadmau5 as well, does not in any way consider himself a DJ, but it's really the only way for him to go out and perform for people.
He claims to be a dj the moment he starts getting paid to dj surely?! If you are not any good then you shouldn't be doing it regardless of your production skills. Though I guess if people will pay for it then why not

i take it you know him, then, and he's told you this? maybe he actually likes the music and enjoys producing it.

Haha exactly. Tell me Hibbie, what exactly is your definition of jumping on a bandwagon? Is it hearing about something after it becomes relatively popular, then joining in on the fun? If so, I'm guilty as hell. Lock us both up for a life sentence.
Also, if "jumping on a bandwagon" is doing something after hearing about it from someone else, what's so bad about that? The reverse would mean someone's only "allowed" to make music if they were there "at the beginning", which, judging by your joining date, you weren't. And if you think about it - everyone was new to dubstep at one moment in time, including your prejudicial ass.

I wasn't saying he isn't jumping on a bandwagon, I was saying his music isn't really dubstep. Some of his tunes are miles away from it, but people that listen to it still call it dubstep, but hey nobody needs to hear that again. Whether you think he's just jumping on a bandwagon or not, I still take my hat off to him for making a living out of it. I personally think that he enjoys what he does, but you can go ahead and make up your own mind about what you think his money making schemes are. Oh wait, you already have.

Not as good as Skrillex though but fair enough.
el-b not as good as skrillex? either that's well disguised sarcasm or...i dunno. it's like comparing...i can't even think of a coherent metaphor, thats just such a fucked thing to say ahahaha. they're completely different artists, you just can't compare them.

who cares if he's jumping on a bandwagon? he's making well produced music that people enjoy. Making people happy.
Stop being a miserable **** and go listen to deep medi/dmz stuff if you don't like what you're hearing.
Tottaly disagree with "he would be another bedroom producer", his production standards and sound manipulation skills are 1000x better than most the shit you'll hear on thefiltheffect channel etc bla bla

Lol, just what I was thinking. Too much effort required to make sure his style stays in place.
