Taken a battering and still working well- good sound, loud, strong, good noise isolation. Perhaps not the best sound or comfort for real audiophile stuff but for DJ stuff they're quality.
my mates got them and when I use them the lead always seems a bit short?

Yeah these look kinda cool and are about 40quid or so cheaper than the sennheisers. Anybody else got any experience with the AKGs??

Am i just being tight or should i just splash the extra 40quid to get the sennheisers?

i think the world is telling you to man up and get the hd25s.

hd 25 are awesome, personally i use shure srh750dj
I don't know all the audio hardware terms in English but could you explain what closed back headphones means. Because I just read that k518s are closed back but I always though it means they go 'over' your ears or something.

im guessing that it provides some kinda noise cancellation benefits, im not a dj though so im not too clear on the subject

go on amazon and get this one: if u need a longer cable though get the coiled cable version which is better for DJing, theres 3 cable length versions the old one was actually quite short it used to be annoying for ducking down in the crate and they would slip off but the coiled cable is a beast.

hmm the used to 125 new with free delivery maybe they went back up. never mind eh theres that or ebay if u want to save 15 bar

and if u wanna pimp them out:

not short at all on my ones but they're the older model so may have changed. cables ideal length for djing but a pain in the arse when out and about because it's so long

closed back means just that - the back is closed so sound doesn't come in as much. open back lets sound out (and in) through the back so they're useful for djing in a club setting as you want decent sound isolation so you're only hearing what's in the headphones

similarly open back is useless for listening on the bus unless you want everyone to hear what you're listening to

doesnt really look like something i would like to dj with. If you've got some bigass monitors in a club those things wont stand if you ask me >_>
those akg studio headphones arent ideal for dj'ing either, used them loads of times.

Just buy some sennheiser hd 25 II, than you'll never have to buy another pair again (untill they get stolen or smashed ofcourse!)

s'fair man, they've always been fine for me but i dunno how big a rig you'll be playing on.
anyway i looked into this loads myself, for weeks even. trust me, you want some grado sr80s for balance (best headphones there are) but they have no bass, so if you wanna use em to lsiten to get they hd25II or some audio technica.

Still got my Sony V700s... still sound and fit great after 6 years, but the rubber's starting to wear off on the ears a bit. Still comfy though.

People say they fall apart, but mine have been given a right fucking battering and made it through.

Can someone recommend me a closed back pair? I don't DJ but have to travel around a lot so bass and comfort are important factors. I wear glasses if that matters.
Thanks.

If comfort and bass is what you're looking for these are perfect:

I have a pair myself and I can safely say the bass is amazing.

Thanks Duffman! That's magic, they look dead on so they do ;)
*Edit* One of the reviews says they leak sound really badly. Any truth to this? Don't want to piss people off.
