what do i do with this bass

Post by Dystinkt » Sun Jan 02, 2011 11:57 pm

Right, I made this bass patch on Albino in FL, added shedloads of distortion bitcrush etc, and Im trying to eq it so it doesnt completely dominate my mix, any ideas on how I might get this mothertrucker under control?

big ups on the bass liking it. its not the bass that need controlling i think you just need to tweek that snare and kick so it fit with that bass they need more pop and for the highhats i think cut some of the high end off that bass or use brighter highhats. :W:

compression or eq. maybe the bass can still keep its identity with you cutting some frequencies.

Compress it if you don't feel like turning it down. I would turn it down it down then boost any frequencies that need to stand out but folks around here don't like boosting.
How does I wobbled bass?

no offense, but it sounds horrible. like too many effects and distortion, can't see a use for this in any music. maybe turn the effects down a bit? i love midrange stuff but it has to sound controlled.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys its helped out a lot! VirtualMark, thats what im trying to do, control it. I sorted some of the effects out on it in the song im putting it in now anyway, and that specific bass is only getting used for the first 16 bars so no offense taken man.

maybe some filter modulation would help? calm the harsh frequencies down a bit.
