@TGP Nice! I like the releaxed feeling, very calm, but you need more rythmic excitment, mess around with it a bit!

@Snick I love that bit in the middle, where inteferece turns into a really clean sounding song! Its awesome, but, i reckon if you Add a bit more grime to the square wave wobble you got going ittl be sick!!

@Sqwauable Youve got a really awesome filth wobbgle going on there, i cant say anything bad about that, But, I would change the tone it goes up to a semi tone if you knoo what i mean. Also try to add a grittier lower sound and fiddle around with that. It might hinder or help, but i feel its to empty, but something else would make it properly filthy!!!

Right, time for my first dubstep track ive made. It took me almost 24 hours to make the sounds your hear, Please be over critical, dont be nice! Remeber i havent worked on anyhting but the main tune and synth sounds, the drums are Just looped with a change at the end of each 4 loop, nothing spectacular.

Haven't tried this style out since the first couple of months of producing. It's a bit sloppy but it's kinda meant to sound like that. Hopefully people enjoy, think I might add some more incidentals and sweeps but it's basically finished.

Soundcloud

@Wingweaver - This is actually pretty decent. I take it that it isn't your first production ever? Sounds like theres a bit too much low mid in the tune as a whole that could be lowered a bit. The 'bassline' synth work is pretty tidy, got some nice switchups going on. Don't like the pad that's in the breakdown/intro, sounds a bit messy. Not got a whole lot to say really, the drums sound well programmed although like you said quite basic at the moment. Obvious critiques would be that despite the elements you have here being good the track is currently very empty and would benefit from more pads, more incidentals, more drumwork, some kind of higher lead melody in the breaks like a piano type thing etc etc. Basically what you have is good but it still sounds very unfinished.

@Sqwuabbles - The actual midrange growls in this don't sound half bad but the use of the song you tried to remix is really poor. I wouldn't try and attempt something like that unless you had an acapella man! Tune sounds very basic and like you aint been producing too long. Biggest thing that stands out for me that needs to be worked on is the melodies, they don't sit right and kinda grate on me. Try learning a small amount of theory off the net and apply it to your melodies in future. It can help more than a lot of people think.

@paravrais
Nope:D ive made about 5 songs, liquid DnB, But one has been good enough to upload.
The low mid is becuase of the way im using thor, which im not going to explain, my mate said those sounds are to god to be shared atm. But i could turn it down. Its very empty becuase ive only worked on the synths :D

I dont really understand what a switch up is, well i dont know what it means, but i probably know what it is, i just dont have the word connected to the event if you know what i mean :D

@paravrais - i like it :D also the synths that come at around 1:47. i'd say ease down on the verb though; looking forward to the finished version
@WingWeaver - interesting panning effects with the wobbles; so far so good :D keep it up
@sqwuabblesmynig - the bitcrush wobble isn't doing it for me, those are some cool ideas tho

this is a track i began yesterday, sampling the evil laughs of mojojojo :P

Posted this in december, probably should have posted it here, this feedback is for people who posted in december.

@Redjuan: Nice work with the synths and the reversed piano stuff, good vibe all round. Not enough bass for me though (although I think this could be an issue on my end)

@OFR: really like the intro, got a nice density to it if you know what I mean. The drop is cool, sounds mysterious. I think your kick could use a little more weight though, it sounds like a snare?! Oh and you have a click when you finish the first section after the drop at 1.48, chuck a fade on it. I could maybe ask for a little more variation, but I like what you are going for.

@Dwel: Good shit man, I like the use of the vocal filter, actually sounds good in a tune for once. Really like the vibe, and the vocal sample is killer. I would say it sounds a little thin though, I might layer up a bit of a thicker atmosphere if I was you. Good song though!

And this is for people in this thread.

@Paravais: The intro is solid man, love the little twinkly bits. I'll be honest the main noise after the drop isn't really for me, just doesn't sound well enough defined, the wobble is a bit better, but it just sounds a little secondary. Everything else is solid, good use of the stereo field, drums sound good, production is nice and clean. Good track though man.

@Wingweaver: Good work man! I basically agree with Paravais, needs a bit more atmos, melody, drum progression but what you have sounds good! Also, the main thing for me (thats paravais picked up on) is that pad in the intro/break... notttt feeling it at all tbh. Good work though man! Especially if its your first foray into dubstep.

@TGP: Love it man, the intro is really cool (I personally would stick some grain delay on the the main highish wooooowwww sounding pad personally but thats just for taste), the bass is solid and the sounds you have are fuckin sweet. The only thing is can say is that the kick drum sounds a little "rough" for my taste, I would go for something a little less upfront, maybe more like a 909 or something.

Soundcloud

My new work in progress, still needs a few little tweaks, proper mixdown and a master but its nearly there.
(Btw anyone who was reading the humanized sounds thread this was the song I was talking about.)

Danny, Filthy, and Snick, Check your soundclouds.

This is actually a finished piece, but I think both of the December threads are pretty much dead so I figured I'd post it here. Sortof different sounding. Enjoy

@paravrais- Liking the sound of that track a lot! the little bitcrushed sections especially! the intro as well is effective,

@EDN- The track is sounding sick so far, loving the idea and the strings/violin is sounding well nice. the piano melodies carry the track well.

@kes-es- that track is awesome! love the dark feeling and the sampling is class. when the drums come in the first time the track falls together so well.

Heres my latest W.I.P, needs some variation and a proper good mix down

@ TGP- like all the sounds and particularly how the rhythms build up in the main section, but I think melodically it needs more. There's that riff (5th is it?) going back and forth and something more interesting could make this track really something. (Like you said with my track incidentally, and completely agree with you)

@ Wingweaver- being critical, the bassline does nothing for me, it just doesn't seem like a new or interesting sound. It's a taste thing I suppose, because it's produced well (the longer slurred wobble bits in the second section are cool) but I'd love more sparse use of that bass-line with some different distortion/reverb/delay/filtering thrown in at points. Drums sound solid but not feeling the hat pattern. Mainly agree with Paravrrais' comments though I do like the pad.

@ Paravrais- feels a bit weak, really just the mix that lets this down.

@ Voodeedoo- mix is pretty tight though synthline might be a bit loud. There's some interesting grimey LFO stuff in there, but also a shitty caspa one that I'm not digging. Drums are sound but don't hear much bass to fill it out.

@ EDN- I think the mixdown is the only big problem, but you mention that anyway. Piano is a bit too plonky perhaps from the 1.30 mark. Strings need some thickening/livening up. Hi-hats are too straight, maybe try and fit them more between other drum hits as you're going for a live feel. Musically it works, good mixdown and this is a track I'd love to have.

@ Kes es- it's well produced and all fits together but there's something missing I can't put might my finger on, might get back to this. Not really sure of the overall style.

@ OFR- dark, like that vibe a lot. The little vocal snips and the extra percs that come in at 2 mins are really perfect. The lead part doesn't sit right to me though, my only real complaint.

Had some comments on this about the pad sound, was originally more of a background drone thing but not sure what to do with it now.

@mr hello especially loving the first WIP, although I like them both. Awesome vibes from the first, simple but effective drums, real chill pad :D Love when the sub bass kicks in there, and the drums start to pick up a little.
Keeping my eye on this one, want it! :D

@Voodeedoo Loving it man, Power Puff girls hahaha.... Sick. Love the bass too, nice and raw sounding.

@paravrais Love this as well, love the pad, sounds nice. Bass is sweet, structure is good, sounds good overall. :D

whats up? first post here on dubstep forum. love the idea behind the this thread. i just hope to get some legitimate feedback.

mr hello: untitled sounds great. love the flow. the pads in the intro set up your drum drop nicely. the beat is def my fav part.

cheeky: love the keys in the intro. love the little yaw right at the drop. your first bass patch sound like it needs maybe a little adjustmenting. i like what youre tryin to do but it just doesnt sound right, yet. keep up the work.

nylle: loving it. real deep vibe here. the hi hats are perfect for this track. wish i could say more but i feel like its damn near on point.

kid strange: watch it go is dope. very orginal. snare smacks ya in the face.. maybe turn em down just a tad. overall well done. would love to keep in touch and give ya feedback on whatever youre workin on in return for some feedback.

snick1: feelin it. like the idea. cant go wrong with the strings. maybe in one section change the hi hats up to give it a bit more variation. just feels kinda repetitive

TGP: listened to it. love the longevity of it. it has the proper build of up of a track. love how the hats hit and kinda fade out. beat sounds great. maybe try a bit more variation with the leads?

please give em a proper listen!

@Kayadubs - Only listened to the top song cos I'm kinda busy and wanted to drop some feedback back in this thread. Pretty decent song though I liked the intro much more than the rest of the tune. Felt like it was gonna be a lovely chilled roller and then the midrange growls came in and it kinda feels like two songs being played together that don't match. The work with the growls themselves is pretty tidy but the track lacks any energy. You need more going on, more happening with the drums and more atmospheric work to give it that chaotic energetic brostep feel to it. I'm assuming here that you were going for brostep and made the drums too ambient rather than were going for deep and chilled and accidentally dropped some brostep growls in there XD overall the production sounds quite good quality but the tune construction needs a looooot of work. Need to give it some identity!

@mrhello - Very chilled track. Feels a bit weak in the mixdown. Would like to hear the drums snap a bit more. Overall decent stuff.

@OFR - Feels pretty basic. Has a good vibe about it but isn't very interesting. Don't really like some of the sounds in it especially the main bassline either. Sorry dude, think there's a lot that needs to be improved here.

@EDN - Love it. Always like it when producers do stuff with a classical vibe. Very chilled, I could happily sit here and listen to it whilst pontificating lol The mixdown is muddy but I think you know that already, think it'll be a killer when it's properly mixed down and shiny sounding.

Sorry if I didn't get round to you, I gotta shoot.

(Oh and Kes-Es that is SICK!)

@paravrais

thanks for the detailed feedback bruv. yea i see what youre sayin bout it being a misleading intro. as much as i would like to make some chilled out tracks, i have a little trouble finishing up those style tunes. but at the same time i like the fact that im blending the ambient drums and the softer intro with a heavy drop. maybe they dont fit together quite like i thought but thats what im aiming for:: blending chilled out leads and sometimes ambient drum patterns with a heavy hitting 'brostep' flow on the bass synths. maybe i havent hit the nail on the head yet but i wanna do somethin different than typical brostep. hope that makes sense. pre meditated is def a work in progress. the other two are somewhat finished i just wanted to get some feedback on em. if ya got some time scope the bottom tune 'puffin interstellar clouds'. once again you'll prob feel like its leading up to be a more chilled track..but there is a heavy drop. not filthy but heavy. thats really what i like tho, deeper leads and intro followed by that dancefloor banger synth. oh and its got method man on the track =D

as for your track. sounds good man. love the subtle wobbles. not in your face but enough to accent the rest of the sounds. feel like i need to listen to it on my krks to give a proper response. these headphones dont do the low ends justice. im really diggin the percussion that comes in around 1:45. thats prob my favorite part. keep up the work. oh and please lemme know what you think on that puffin interstellar clouds track. if youve got anymore you wanna share id love to letcha know what i think!
peace!
