what exactly is "brostep"

Post by LetsGoBlues91 » Tue Jan 04, 2011 3:53 am

I have been hearing dubstep and brostep both being used separately. It seems like brostep has lots of wobbles?

Brosteps wobbles are in the low-mid range generally done with multiple Saw oscillators and heavy work on the LFO rate, like you hear from the likes of Excision, Datsik and so forth.. Real puke enducers..

Dubstep is deeper and takes you on a journey, not crammed with mad basslines that melt your face and make hipsters want to grab a keyboard and run into a club. Has deeper less forward subs and is very chilled. Check out Mala for that.

Well as far as I know! -q-

Brostep isn't seperate from dubstep though - it's sort of a very broad sub category.

What has been said here. However - it doesn't just apply to the kind of midrange filth you'd hear from the likes of datsik, excision, but also the likes of chasing shadows, antiserum, babylon system.etc. It's generally much heavier, has a stack of midrange. Brostep is to Dubstep what Hardstyle was to trance. It shares a parent/child relationship, but one is full of anger and energy - the other is old and likes classical music.

also both styles incorporate wobbles as im sure youve heard the more chilled out type stuff, biggest difference to me is dubstep is just a beautiful blend of a bunch of different styles and brostep is that but just on crack mode with real intense lfo bass action

In my opinion Dubstep is dance-able :T: Brostep's bounce-to-able
