My teenage side-fucking-fringed scenester cousin gave this love on a recent facebook status of hers so for that I am going to nut her when i next see her. :q:
yes of course lol

tbf this is just kiddies music isnt it?

had a few 14 year olds buy it

tbf it hasnt sold anywhere near as well in our store as the getdarker ones

obf the ministry of sound one pwns all though

if i remember the last time i checked this is dubstep 2 78 copies
this is dubstep (newer cd so had less time) 35 copies
sound of dubstep 134 copies
generation dubstep 8 copies
dubstep allstars 7 24 copies

of course im telling everyone not to buy generation dubstep :D

it tends to be pretty obvious that most people buying the ministry of sound cd are fuckwits

i get asked if datsik has an album every week by kids with shit hair...i tend to ask them if they like it and then say REALLY? and then ask them if they like any of the croydon dubstep artists that started it and they look confose

these tough lads asked for dubstep a while ago and i showed them the section with peverelist, dfrnt, skream, reso, benga, rusko, kode9, martyn, box of dub, dubstep allstars, i love dubstep, rinse cds, distance, mount kimble etc etc etc in it and they looked totally lost and blurted almost in desperation DONT YOU HAVE A CD THAT JUST HAS ALL LIKE THE REMIXES ON IT

a regular customer was there who spends shitloads on the goodstuff and we both creased up when they left
   Well arent you the professional. I cant believe you waited until they left before you creased up. I would have laughed in there chavvy looking faces.

I know we must look like elitist stnuc but it must drive you completely nuts when these people come in requesting such shite. I guess you have to abide by the customer is always right attitude and let them purchase what they want but a little education can never go a miss especially if it means they develope a true love for dubstep and will make them look back with embarrassment once they find 'better' stuff.

Also thanks for hooking up my mate Adam (AD). He said he spoke to you when Shivers and Lost played Sheep and you was some what confused when he mentioned playing your night in the 11 August but I trust everything worked out in the end.

Yeah ill be coming down mate. To be honest I have no excuse as to why I havnt attended previously but ill definitely be along to show some support. Does it get busy because ive attended Croydub a couple of times and didnt really think the venue suited such a large crowd.

No not at all, even though Vol. 3 will have some tracks I'm sure you've never heard of and will appreciate.

Our aim is to basically give the best representation as we can, but keeping it original and as few remixes as possible. Obviously we need a cash cow track or two to boost the album commercially, but hopefully people can see past this and realise it opens the rest of the album up to consumers with tunnel vision who only want a particular sound or artist and buy the album or become aware of it because of that. C&S - Saxon is an example of I guess, a false prophet.

Personally I think your releases have a lot more credibility than a lot of what is currently out there. I think you have a lot more appreciation towards the scene and understand what is needed to be able to make an album more accessible to all. It goes to show that having a big name on the front such like Ministry of Sound doesnt guarantee quality and an understanding however I guess its all subjective and comes down to satisfying the taste of the market you are trying to corner.

How does putting such a compilation together work? Do you have to pay a fee for each track or is a percentage given to each record label per album sold? How do you make money from a CD given the amount of tracks and how cheap CDs are these days?

I was gonna buy the booster pack version of This IS Dubstep 1 the other day....but I already have 85% of the tracks so didn't. Would have otherwise though. Stinkfinger was the only track I did a  to though.

Get Darker is representing well.
I don't turn on Korn to get it on, I be playin Digi Mystikz 'til the dawn

Yeah in my HMV i'm on the same flex as pistons with running my little dubstep corner. I'm not allowed the free reign he is though as we're just a small store so i've only got like a 'Dubstep Artist's' pocket with Rusko, Skream, Burial, Benga, caspa and C&S albums in atm, 'Dubstep Compilations' Pockets with some of the allstars cds, some of the rinse ones, the Deep Medi one and the MOS (can go fuck themselves) Cd, the Get Darker ones and this shitty Generation one (which we havn't sold ONE copy of even though we sold almost 100 MOS ones and a few dozen Get Darker ones.

I can live with the variety of the This Is Dubstep compilations, because I KNOW that you put the harder stuff on it too sell, but the softer stuff too to educate 'n enjoy! :D

Also Piston you should have a gun so you can clean up the gene pool a bit @HMV.

Copypasta of Cookiemonsta's post, except if he took the time of retyping it, but allow me to express my doubts.

what you have to understand is that we make what we like

and at the moment caspa and rusko makes the kind of dubstep that makes you wanna flykick a homeless person

Thats what we like so thats what we create

I find this thread funny too but tbh Cookie Monsta should now rest in the depths of dubstep history. This nightmare is over son.
