DnB RMX's of Dubstep
its amazing how dnb and dubstep are practically brother and sister to each other - just look in the average dubsteppers record crates
and yet the musics themselves are (to me) incompatible, they wouldnt work very well to meld the two together. i mean, theyre both based on (mostly) broken beats and deep grimey subs...
but its not like if you slowed down a dnb record or sped up a dubstep record you would in any way have the other

Yeah I meant modern dnb obviously, I think if jungle was still around you could remix dubstep tunes into that format more successfully.Shonky wrote:Think when drum and bass was around 160 and there were some more minimal tunes around it worked fine. Dnb generally has a completely different aesthetic to dubstep though imagine it would be done with as much integrity as Michael Bolton covering Otis Redding (yeah you mulleted pig-fellator, really needed a guitar solo didn't it?)Corpsey wrote:Most dubstep tunes work for me because they're at that bpm where they can have space (for beats and sub) and tension built up in them- which they'd lose at 170bpm.

heh problem is you slow down dnb records you get nu skool breaks
did a mix like that awhile back
128kbps | 37.5 mb | 41:00
1. Cause 4 Concern - Psyke
2. Dylan & Friction - Polluted Soul
3. Fortran - The End Part 2
4. Gridlok - Heatwave
5. Bad Company - Skin Tag
6. Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch - Code
7. Konflict - Beckoning
8. Decoder - dbSFV
9. Noisia - Backdraft
10. Corrupt Souls - Autoerotic
*note this mix is not at Drum And Bass Tempo.
It's detuned down to breaks speed using my
+/- 25% pitch control on my decks, which makes
pitch adjustments a bitch, but lemme know
what you think...

ok firstly the zinc remix does the original justice in a big way. one of zinc's finest productions to date imo... and it goes OFF in the dance.abZ wrote:If there were more halftime dnb tunes, I'd prolly start spinning it again. I think it will happen too. Dubstep will undoubtedly influence dnb in a big way.RickyRicardo wrote:I liked Zinc's request line remix (in fact, I got a dnb gig tonight, and certainly plan on playing it).
Admittedly when I first heard about it, I had assumed the worst...but was quite presently surprised.
secondly there is a fair bit of halftime dnb out there you just need to listen to more dnb.
that's the main problem with dnb - djs just playing the same old shit without giving everything a good listen, so as a result crowds are put off the genre cos all the raves sound the same (except central beatz- check the flyer in my sig...

some half-time dnb to check out:
dylan & raiden - preacherman
the entire amit back catalogue
kryptic minds & leon switch - minor 9 ep (there's a stormer on that!)
as for more dnb remixes of dubstep... why not? it's more a case of please make some good tunes and less of the nursery rhyme crap that seems to attract all the emos to dnb raves and turn all the old junglists into dubstep heads...
