Example & Skream not dubstep??

Post by jmoyle55 » Wed Jan 05, 2011 12:36 am

So many people are hating Example n Skream's new song 'shot yourself in the foot again'- saying it's not dubstep and it's not heavy enough... well check out this video of them doing it live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxOP8fFP_QM , it's an absolute banger!! They were actually told to leave the decks early coz the crowd got too out of control, no joke! just obviously doesnt sound so hype when you play it through ya laptop speakers...

Check ittt... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxOP8fFP_QM !!!!!!!!!!!!!

naa but really, Im not gonna completely fight their side, but i just wanna know what other peoples opinions are. Some ridiculously light stuff seems to get away as dubstep nowadays, n surely this aint one of those... just soo many people have slagged it off in forums and on youtube etc..

Dubstep is a very vague term that means different things to different people, I wouldn't stress it too much man!

i was thinking the same thing... i never realized that the weight of a tune decided whether it was dubstep or not.

It's not too bad as far as a more mainstream sound goes, I think.
That club and the night they did the secret gig at isn't really known for it's dubstep...more of a pop crowd looking to get laid. :corndance
I ain't got anything against that, but it just shows what Skream and Example were aiming for.

-w- Nah man. I think if anyone is riding the perfect line between mainstream (ie Magnetic Man) and the hardcore (ie Freeizms), it's Mr. Jones!

I'm just saying by doing that secret gig out to a 'relatively' ignorant crowd he would be getting the maximum effect. Cause like people have been saying - it ain't everyone's cup of tea...right?
