not a bad tutorial but not really that close though.
Just made the bass at the drop from Kill Everybody. pretty easy really, using Massive alone too..

This plus his angst against everybody in the world would probably result in similar sounds. Add in some self hatred and I bet you could even get the scatta bass :duncekrispy wrote:Maybe the real secret is to get a haircut like Skrillex

In that interview vid he actually seemed like a regular non-hater dude.bigfootspartan wrote: This plus his angst against everybody in the world
His tunes are pretty good too, I just don't like these sounds. He uses them well in his stuff but they're not helpful or inspiring to me.

Re: Skrillex - how to. (massive tutorial)
this is the worst tutorial I have ever watched, I have a preset that does a better Yoi than that and this sounds nothing like skrillex, please learn how to use a synthesizer and resampling and try again.

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

Re: Skrillex - how to. (massive tutorial)
I do, purely because every time I try one of these 'MAKE BASS LIKE SKRILLEX/DATSIK/EXCISION' threads it ends up sounding like a turd so I just stick to trying things out myself.does no one believe in developing their own workflow anymore these days?
Re: Skrillex - how to. (massive tutorial)
alright im shit, but at least its my kinda shit.
Re: Skrillex - how to. (massive tutorial)
I actually didn't think this was too bad, ok, so it doesn't sound exactly like Skrillex but it's not a terrible tutorial
Re: Skrillex - how to. (massive tutorial)
im with you on this. i kept hearing his name all over the forums and finally listened to some yesterday, it was pure shite. saw some remix by him and closed the tab 5 seconds after the drop, i had heard enough to know what his stuff was going to be like. so predictable and generic, it sounds like stuff people were doing 2 years ago. i saw a picture of him and read his bio and it all made sensenitz wrote:Jesus what's with everyone trying to make his basses for ? Re: Skrillex - how to. (massive tutorial)
no need to hate him for the attention he gets. its out of his hands. the guy is pretty good i think.
this is my take on the scatta bass:
http://friendfeed.com/composers/0718616 ... e-skrillex
not sure if i ever use it

thats a pretty ignorant statement. 'generic and like stuff people were doing 2 years ago' my ass. whether you like his music or not, you can't knock his sound design, the guys cutting edge.therzbm wrote:im with you on this. i kept hearing his name all over the forums and finally listened to some yesterday, it was pure shite. saw some remix by him and closed the tab 5 seconds after the drop, i had heard enough to know what his stuff was going to be like. so predictable and generic, it sounds like stuff people were doing 2 years ago. i saw a picture of him and read his bio and it all made sensenitz wrote:Jesus what's with everyone trying to make his basses for ?
