nope...
didn't do it with the big hope that he will play it out or even release anything or so. it's more just getting my music foreward to producers i highly rate.
on the other hand, i was invited to dinner with the organizers of the gig and mala too, and he said that it took ages untill he actually listened to the promo that truth sent in (i think it was truth)

That's pretty cool.
Yeah I've heard he takes a while to get back to people but I imagine he's incredibly busy, good luck on getting the money man

"I CUT THIS ESPECIALLY FOR YOU *dribble*"
I've always found Mala the sort of guy that appreciates effort people, so if you hand him a dubplate, I'm sure he will at least give it a listen.
Don't quote me on that though...

this is very impressive. the effort shows love and a resepct for your music and will have caught mala's eye, and whoever else you hand them too. One promo done with care is better than 500 mp3s emailed.
equally, part of me thinks your nuts to spend £180 just to get a promo into a djs hands. but, if you get signed or a personal email with guidance and so on then theyll keep a special eye out for you the enxt time etc, maybe its worth it. and is the same rpice as a new bit of kit, and both progress your career, so i guessi can see the logic.
still. alot of money...

i think it's brilliant... Kode9 and Mala are definitely the type of guy that would really appreciate this. It's a huge show of respect to go through the effort of getting dubs cut and also obviously pay for them as well, and then give them away for nothing else than having them take a listen. it says so much more than just handing a guy a CD or sending him an mp3. it also shows a lot of confidence, I mean, you're not gonna go through all of that just if you're not sure that your tunes are quality. I know that if I were Mala or Kode9 i'd be quite flattered by such a gift.

to be honest, the local dubcutter isn't really that good
i tried my first dubplate at his cutting house. fair enough i have to admit i was productionwise not that good back then. big pro is, that he uses acetates too (which isn't everywhere the case)
i'll def get it cut at transition. i also wonder how they will sound! i don't believe that much in mastering as a magic - but nontheless all my dubplates i've done always needed more gain level than any other record... also they either were crackling or had suddenly a rumbling lowend (although the digital version clearly didn't have one - and no: it wasn't a sub at 20hz... a normal 40hz bass)
anyway - by now i did not find my place for dubs.... mala told me to try transition, and i'm taking his word although it's a bit more expensive.

no need to anymore

- i now have 5 people willing to give all in all approx 250 swiss francs... that would be about 255 USD and enough for mastering + dubplate
SICK!
big big big up and respect to anyone feeling my sounds music, especially phigure who is donating too!

What tracks are you cutting?
Got to take a lot of confidence to spend so much on a few tracks being put on wax. To be fair though, you've not paid this time haha.
Really hope it pays off for you. I'd love to do the same but it's far too expensive. Make sure you let us know how the things sound too, as well as if/when you get feedback.
