@Jordankj, Sounds good for a first song. I just think you need to bring out the drums and make their mix a little bit louder. Keep at it man.
@NICORISONE, The drums are done well. They really fit into the track; the only thing I can really think of is to make the drums have more reverb? I don't have anything negative to say about it. Good track.
@Dublicks, I like your drums. Very realistic feel to them; they sound like live drums. Great vibe throughout the track, maybe adjust the LFO rate to be slower to fit the Reggae/Dub vibe. Great start.

Here's my contribution. Any tips/critique? I can't think of anything good after the last vocal sample (any ideas?) and I'm not really sure where to take the bass.

Thanks man,yea i realize now when i finalized it i screwed up on the volume. im trying to steer clear of the brostep style music,no matter how popular it is. Hopefully i can get something going soon.

NICORISONE, Love the dark intro. i feel the kick interferes with the low-end of that pad thing so maybe sidechain the lower frequencies a bit? the repeating sidestick might not fit too well either, maybe play it for one beat at the same speed but with a ping pong delay set at 1 beat speed on it and play it every bar. get what im saying? im pretty bad at explaining things :P

hendrix126, love how deep that bass is! i think the cymbals are a bit too loud, made me cringe a little. diggin the sample in there too ;) I like the snare switch-up

Jordankj, Like the 6/8 timing. some reason i have always loved it. not really feeling the vocoder bass thing. just not really my cup-o-tea. and like hendrix said, mix your drums up a bit. other than that, great job for your first song and welcome to DSF!

PS, for future reference, please post feedback to other peoples tracks before posting yours ;)

Herres a new remix i started today. still rough and mixing aint all that and a bag of chips but im workin on it. and yes, i know the vocals clip a little, thought it was my monitors.

nicorisone - brilliant tune. the (im not sure what it is) wood block, rim or what ever is playing the consistant 16th notes needs to be switched up. not necessarily the pattern as i think a (mostly) straight pattern like that is appropriate, but you should definitely switch up the dynamics on it; i.e., lower the overall volume of it and accent the notes that fall on 2 & 4 or something along those lines. im a drummer, so thats the first think i take note of when i listen. also try a touch more of reverb on the snare. but the rest of the beat is perfect (honestly.) the overall atmosphere of the track is absolutely intoxicating.

hendrix126 - what you have so far is perfect, really. what i would do (after what you have) the phrase starting at 1:15, repeat the drums and sub from that and add some varied parts (basically the ones you like the best and want to stand out) over it at a lower volume than see where it takes you. but thats just me.

weedcali - im lovin that format bass at 2:15 and the lead that plays over it is just amazing. hell, the whole closing segment is just epic. and the dynamics throughout the whole track, the drums especially, is of something truely musical. bravo!

i needed a small break from the brostep track ive been whoring in this thread so heres the one i started last night. i got the basic layout down pretty well i think, im gonna add some more as its only drums, sub, a pad and a lead.

my plans are (got this sounds like the build thread for my car hahahah):
re-split the sub bass to bring out the mid for those that dont have good speakers/monitors.
add a little more high end
and teh wobblez/mid ranged bass. but ill keep that at a minimum and far from my wacky mid-ranged nonsense of a norm.
maybe some vocals or samples and well see where it takes me.

id also love suggestions as this is my first attempt at a downtempo type of track.

Soundcloud

enjoy.

Thanks Filthy, I left a comment on the song in your sig. gotta say, its fuckin boss!

And to the song you just posted, Feelin the downtempo style. i feel the kick isnt too present in the mix. maybe sidechain the bass? otherwise, i think its a good start for sure!

hendrix126 intro bass is amazing!!! Definitely feeling this! Vocal fit in perfectly. I don't really like that second part too much tho, maybe the snare is a bit too Mt Eden haha
weedcali I really like the blend of acoustic bass and a dubstep beat, grimey bass at 2:13! I like what you have done so far man
filthy_ I think the kick could have more power. It sound too quite and overpowered by the bass ;)

something different by me, started out with producing a small clip in Reason on my dads headphones and now I have been working on it some more on my monitors. Inspiration from tracks by Spor, The Prodigy, Billian etc, so it's neurofunkish

Apologies for the slightly haphazard feedback.
Filthy - Am feeling the laid back vibes. I would suggest the odd delay here or there on the snare. And also to play with the bass a little more. It's strong as hell, but one of the notes doesn't chime well! Nice listen though definately.
Nicorisone - Absolutely love that shit. The bass comes in so nicely with the original synth. The later wobble is also larrvley. I can't offer production tips but I think some nice high strings would flow nicely with it later on.
Dublicks - I like the arrangement, even if the intro does seem fairly lengthy. As you say drums to come. Track has a wicked vibe but I can't help but be distracted by the wobbles. Maybe take some of the higher frequencies off of them or tone the waveyness down a little. Get a stronger snare in there as well, it'll make the drum switch at 1:10 much nicer IMO.

This is my first tune with the full Ableton since Saturday. (Had a month trial before and that sums up my entire production history)

Things for me to do on this: LEVELS. Bass and kick mainly - I need to get the kick to punch hard, but I'm not sure where to put it in the freq range.. Also the clap/snare.
Arrangement is about right. Will work on a transition or as well.

It cuts out rather sharpish at the end, apologies!

Hendrix126: Really good production sir. Vocal sample are great but maybe a little too loud in mix. Lot of ideas in there, just a matter of stretching it out for longer.
Weedcali: Love the instruments - bass sound is really nice. Really good work.
Filthy_ : Sounds good. You could maybe do with adding a little more atmosphere, maybe another pad. Lead synth is cool, maybe give it some more variation.
Ninthy4 : that is one wild tune. Maybe too intense for me but good production.
Cr0fty : I completely agree with all the points you made yourself. Good tune in the making..
NOICORISONE : Sound great, Really like it. I personally dont think it needs a wobble at the end but of course thats your call.

OK..

first of all sorry for making my own thread for my beat! Weird forum rules, didnt expect that..

Have to wait and see if I like this idea of putting everyone looking for feedback in one thread...

Aaaaaanyhow

@ Crofty: Like the style. snare needs punch in the 200 hz area imo.. although this isnt really a must. Kick isnt loud enough as I think you have observed yourself. Like the ideas and sounds definitely though.. the beats are all concentrated in the high end.. try get some mor mid frequencies in there with new layers or different eqing

@ Wife: Liking the techno/house style vibes on this. Definitely a cool little number. Overall the track is quite quiet and the mixdown needs some improvement. As I said the style is cool, I like

@nicorisone: Musical elements are lovely, vibe is really chilled. Very nice tune. But once again the mix sounds rather quiet. Particularly the higher end is very quiet.. The clap could come up (maybe some more reverb.. even if only on specific hits would be wicked imo)
Mixed down nicely with a little more variations = wicked track imo! nice one

@ninthy... filth :) like the dubstep tracks more than the dnb one though.. (and im more of a dnb man in general by the way)

So heres my offering. I put this together last night.. So far ive had decent feedback with some critique on the synth lead bit.. Would love to hear what u guys think

@nicorisone/future-warz-w-i-p - The pad is really nice, its has a warm high end that makes a lush atmosphere. I think the kick is nice buts sits weak in the mix, maybe side chain the pad or high pass/low shelf the low end and compress it with a fast release, A percution track with a nice open high end would compliment this. This sounds like a great track so far, cant wait to hear the finished version.

@coltonjones/new-intro-wip - The drums sound very original and when it drops they sound lively. The delay/reverb on the bass could have the low end eq'ed as i think it would clean the low end and make the bass more punchy. As a whole the track Sounds a bit washed with reverb. The mix down is really good man, keep up the good work.

@cycle-ogic/breathe-remix-wip - Amazing production and great mix of a purple lead and brostep bass. The vocal sits very nice and the snare sounds tight. Really great Track.

Heres a new wip. Not much of an arangment so far but the ideas ther. Feel free to critisize, rip or tip. Peace :5:

Hendrix: Deep track! Love both drops and how it gets mad at the end :)

Weedcali: Don't know the original track, but very chill nonetheless!
Imo make it glitch after the second drop?

Dodo: Very "rushy" track, like it. Love the bassline, it feels alive :)

Not arranged very well, but I get to that later, would love some qritique on this one:

@ kayadubs

production is pretty nice. The snare is a little cheap sounding though ( just a little imo) id either get more punch around 200 hz in there or more verb.. or some cymbals to make it more interesting

bit of a weird use of the sample.. but its a solid track definitely

@ hoppa:: thanks for the listen. snare could def be bumped up a little i guess. some reverb wouldnt sound bad. but what do you mean weird use of the samples?

as for your track: dope drum beat. i like all the percussion. not really my style but not really much to criticize here. as far as production goes its sounds good. nice progression. like the samples a lot. would rather hear it on some monitors before i say this but somethin bout the bass patch isnt sounding right to me. prob just the headphones tho..
